Looking for any local tournaments in Huntington Wv, I will be heading that way to visit the in-laws over the Thanksgiving week and am not familiar with any pool halls around that area. Thanks

I haven't been there in years but TJ's was really the only place to play. Good room....

I havent been there for about 7 years but I saw a friend of mine from there this past weekend and he said both TJ's and Shooters were no longer open. Not really sure if that leaves anything of substance to go to. Good luck with the inlaws.

TJs is closed for sure but from wat i hear Jay opened a small room with a few barboxes right across the street, dont ask me y.

If anyone ever figures Jay out let me know. It may be the secret to the universe.... LOL

I was living in Huntington for a while a few years ago and recently visited again last year.

I think it was TJ's that is near Marshall, right? Next to the pizza place right on the corner?

Anyway, I used to play in there when I was out there. Is that TJ's? And, is it now closed? He had about 8 9' tables in there, and a 'back room' with a couple nicer condition tables.

The owner of the place had a nice plain Gus that I was planning to get from him, but I moved back to NY and never got around to it...

TJ's is closed but Jay owns the place across the street called The Varsity. He is moving most of the 9 footers over there and they have one 9 footer in Classics in West Huntington which Jay owns as well.

WTF happened to Huntington???????????
When I left that area about 15 years ago, there was House of Billiards in Huntington AND Barboursville. Shooters right across the street from HOB, which had like 12 or more 9' diamonds, Classics which had a ton of 9' Murrays...... WTF?

I believe it is refereed to as "A Depression"; although everyone else in the world wants to call it "A Recession".

Me and a couple of buddies of mine used to do pretty good at Shooters on the weekends.
  1. College kids
  2. Full bar
  3. Money
Sweet spot.

i played the Ellis bros. some onepocket there. the tables played nice, Diamonds....and HoB had maybe...Murrays or GC's. they didnt play as well.

HOB had 4 9' gc's and 5 or 6 oversized 8's. They played fine, but maybe they went downhill..... I liked Classics farther up 4th ave, murray tables was the only complaint.
