Went to an estate sale the other day. Lots of old hand tools for sale in boxes with dovetailed corners. I always thought that was cool.

There was a few blocks of this stuff laying in a box with some other plain white plastic pieces. Its some sort of hard plastic as well, and the pattern goes all the way thru. Anyone ever seen this stuff before ? I thought the pattern looked cool....almost like dyed quilted maple. L

Oh no. Please stop buying materials for cues.

This doesn't work very well for you..

You have no idea what you're talking about. I have 3 other cues being completed as we speak, however that cuemaker is not trying to steal from me.

nylatron?

Reminds me of a bearing material called Nylatron except your pattern is on a larger scale. Then again, I've never seen it in anything other than round stock under 1".

Save spot for pictures.

I am guessing Bob and Kenny are right.....this is bearing material of some sort. Heres a pic of the box with the rest of the white and yellow plastic pieces. I threw in a couple pics of the drum set I got too !!

Well, maybe, but I've never seen yellow Delrin - I've only seen black and white (Delrin is what I think the white pieces may be - I have some white Delrin).

Delrin is pretty hard and stiff stuff - drill and tap it - if it reminds you of aluminum, then good. If it seems soft, then I'm going to guess the yellow stuff is nylon - but that's just a guess.

If the yellow material feels a little softer than the delrin when scratching with your finger nail then it's a good chance that it is polypropylene. I have a 2 or 2.5 inch bar of it laying around here someplace that looks identical.
