Any luck with Predator factory repairs?

Bear,
My experience was that the Predator and OB-1 played identically (at least as far as how much squirt to allow for - I did NOT have to make any change in allowance when I switched shafts....sweet...).

Yeah, no adjustment between the 2 in terms of LD. I do find that OB-1 is more lively then 314^2 somewhat.

I have actually went through 3 predator shafts now, and I know 2 of my buddies who have too. I had two of them warp out of the blue, and I keep my cues in humidity controlled places all the time.. and this one cracked ferrule( I dont break with them either).
I have seriously thought about switching but I LOVE how they play.

i have used a predator shaft for 8 years or so,
never had a problem.
i leave mine in bad weather a lot.

I have a 314 2nd gen and the ferrule cracked in two spots like almost trying to form a ring. I am wanting to send it in and get it fixed because it was obviously their flaw, but has anyone else had this problem or any other problem and sent it back to be told the warranty wont cover it? Are they easy to get along with or wont take rep for for anything?

Also is it inconceivable if persay I took out the foam ferrule and put a tenon in it and put a regular ferrule on it? ( just wondering, not planning on it.)

Man postage to China is going to kill you man!!!!!!;)

Thanks guys, I am going to send it in Monday. I have always wondered what the difference would be between the OB1 and predator. I hear a lot of people say it was too flimsy feeling compared to the predator which i took as more deflection.

Definitely no more deflection on OB-1 than 314^2. Definitely not flimsy.
If you want flimsy then OB-2 which should be compared to z^2.

Predator ferrules

I've used Predator and OB, and both play well. Prefer the OB Classic out of the bunch, and like that the guys are in Plano, TX instead of China.

Bought a older used Predator cue awhile back (awesome player) that was missing a bumper. I emailed Predator about purchasing one and they mailed me one for free.

Predator ferrules...

Is anyone having problems with the Predator ferrules developing pits and uneven spots just from chalk dust? My son's 314-2 gets chalk streaks that are actually ingrained in the ferrule and have to be sanded out. It's either going to get dirtier and rougher, or will rapidly become a toothpick if I attempt to keep clean and smooth. Any ideas to combat this??

One of my shafts had the same problem. Miscues will do the damage and chalk will go in right away. Magic eraser will clean it up.

There are other reasons, such as if you drill a hole in chalk than the ferrule will get scratches when chalking and magic tool if you trying to compact the sides of the tip could cause the damage if you go too deep.

Solved!

Got my answer in the cue maker forum! It's the cloth. He follows through into the cloth on the break, and the friction, heat, and chalk combine to do the damage on that soft ferrule.

i have messed up numerous predator ferrules. send it to the factory and they will replace it. do not put a tendon in. they play terrible like that

I did not have as much luck as everyone else. I leaned my cue against a table and it fell. It hit a transition strip in the floor about 1/2" down from the ferrule and cracked. I wish I would have sent it in right then and I think they would have replaced it. Instead, I had a guy try to glue it back together and since someone else had messed with it, they wouldn't do anything. I felt like I was trying to save them a little bit and when it didn't work, I was penalized. On the bright side, I bought an OB-2 and loved it. I now own 4 of their shafts and have always found them to be very helpful.
