Any old RSBers lurking out there?

I would like to know who's here that used to post/lurk regularly on RSB. I know some of the more frequent posters but there have to be some that don't post often also right?

Is everyone over at Jimbo's site?

I used to post on there regularly. That was a long time ago though.

You're one of the few posters from either board that I've met in person. But I think that was before I was posting on either board.

i used to read things there a little bit about 10-15 years ago while on webtv.

some of personalities there made it so i did not want to post.

also back then pc snobs would not talk to webtvers much anyway.

Alex, many are.

I lurked there for a few years. It was my first billiard forum, and it got really ugly. I always wondered if it's still going.

I used to lurk quite often and post infrequently at RSB (and ASP).

I have only been to Jimbo's site a few times, generally when something is posted here about it.

For the past several years I have really only lurked and posted (infrequently) here at AZB.

I am here - would like to go back there but have no desire to make my email public (google groups) and have zero desire to go there.

and YOU can give me 8:6 if we ever meet up again. :-) It's stealing for you trust me.

I did from the early '90s but not under this moniker. Back before GUI, as a matter of fact.

i was the one that introduced hal houle to the group--god forbid if i have ever been forgiven! lol

I remember when Smorgass Bored was on WebTV for years and as far as I know he did not have any problems being snubbed by pc snobs except for maybe the occasional good natured ribbing here or there.

I was on RSB regularly (and to a lesser extent ASP) about 12-13 years ago until about 3 years ago. I was a daily lurker but only posted a few times. I remember Smorg and Alex Kanapilly and John Barton and many of the other's that are now on AzBilliards, but there are not near as many RSB people here as you would expect, although many of them are using a different screen name and probably haven't identified themselves. I rarely go to Jimbo's site.

Ahh, good ol' RSB times. I was probably one of the few Europeans that wrote there... and that was like... 12 year ago. Wow, time sure flies, seems like it was just yesterday. I didn't write too often but I read all those Jimbo threads. Actually made a good friend from Holland via the RSB. Greets to Mario ! :)

I was on RSB many moons ago. I'm guessing it was around 1998 or so. Didn't really have any reason that I dropped off other than I stopped playing pool for a while. I found AZ right around the time Jimbo was banned from here. I always got along with Jimbo and as soon as my user name showed up here I got a message from someone that Jimbo was over at Insidepoolmag and wanted me to drop in. I spent a lot of time there instead of here because I like Jimbo and knew more people over there. I ended up posting more here because of the straight pool section. I still drop in at Jimbo's from time to time but, as I said, the 14.1 section is here and that's mainly what I read.

I believe so. I remember when I met you, man, that ring game that night at Greenfields I got all the rolls. :D I went down there to see Chris and he wasn't even there.

But it was great to play with you guys. I miss you and C.O. and a lot of the players in Denver a lot.

I remember you on there. I believe we had some spirited (and friendly) conversations.

what is RSB or ASP kinda new to the whole forem thing.

Thanks

Back in the days before people sent pictures over the internet (much) there were a bunch of text-based news groups. RSB is short for Rec.Sport.Billiards and it was one of those newsgroups dedicated to pool.

It is unmoderated and eventually certain personalities who have no life started posting hundreds and hundreds of pages of posts that basically drowned out all reasonable discourse. Then also you have the crowd of folks trying to sell watches and stock tips etc...

You can see what it is by googling rec.sport.billiard.

~rc

I believe ASP was Alt.sport.pool or something similar.

I remember you as well. Also Bob Jewett was there, Smorgie and many others... The conversations were quite different when there were only a handful of active members writing. Nostalgy... :)

Surely you refer to Fast Larry and his 39 aliases.
RSB was great for a daily laugh.

I think I was 'ladyunicorn' back in the old RSB days. I didn't post all that much either...there was generally plenty of 'action' already going on...and I didn't know enough to really contribute anything meaningful. :sorry:
