David Smith one pocket player. Came thru Rainbow Billiards in Easley SC Friday night looking for action. Said he was from Columbia SC. Had a large bankroll he was flashing. I`ve lived in SC all my life, never seen or heard of him before. Tooooo bad Larry Nevin left and went back home.

What's he look like? How old is he? left handed - right handed? A few more clues would help. If he was slightly bald and kind of cantankerous, it might have been my buddy Grady trying to sneak up on you, as he hail from Columbia SC if I'm not mistaken. :grin-square: Grady don't sneak up on anyone anymore. In fact, Grady might be the most recognized face in pool.

Yeah, but there is a guy who if I'm not mistaken, used to be called Dave Smith, who i used to see him like 15 years ago in the Maryland Baltimore area.

If it's the same guy with the stickers on his cue, he's the guy that beat Strickland in the South Jersey Camel Pro 10ball event by snapping in the 10 ball 3 times in a row to finish it. Before that, i think he said that he had never ever beaten him before.

He plays Jam up pool or used to anyway. I don't think he's trying to sneak up on anyone or hustle. He just wants to play.
He's very straight forward.
Really nice guy from what i remember.

I've been playing in Columbia for the last year or more and have never heard of him.

WOW!
What's the pool world coming to?
There seem to be an awful lot of "nice guy" pool players around these days. We need to put them all on a pedestal. They'll fall off from time to time or get knocked off but at least we can put them where they belong for the moment.

We even have some "very nice young" pool players coming on board from time to time like Landon Shuffett (who's featured on AZ Billiards's main page. It'll be fun to see how the young guys develop as men and players.

O.K. STEVE YOU CAN WAKE UP NOW, YOU WERE DREAMING!!!!

David was a computer programmer working in VA but quit in the early 90s to pursue pool career. When i was playing as a teenager we went to alot of places together, i havent talked to him in probably 1o years (since i joined military) last i heard he was back in MS taking care of his mom. If that was him that came through it would be odd that he is looking for big action as he doesnt hardly gamble (didnt before)....

That's him....He plays well...but not quite pro speed...Good Luck:grin:

He was a pro player and played in pro Billiards tour in early 90s ( when don macky was the commissioner of pro pool ). during that time he was a very reserved and quite guy.
