Anybody know this player

> Yes,he played on the PBT and typically the U.S. Open. I saw him beat Grady in a match in 1995 from sitting right behind the player's chairs. Grady never missed a ball, never gave up ball in hand, but never made a ball on the break. David came to the table 3 different times after a Grady break, missed the ball he was shooting at only to luck something in,got out,and followed up by running 2 racks from the break 4 DIFFERENT TIMES,to win 11-4 . He was also known as one of the few PBT pros to have a college degree. Tommy D.

He was a pro player and played in pro Billiards tour in early 90s ( when don macky was the commissioner of pro pool ). during that time he was a very reserved and quite guy.

Not Don Macky, Don Maggot was his name.

David was a computer programmer working in VA but quit in the early 90s to pursue pool career. When i was playing as a teenager we went to alot of places together, i havent talked to him in probably 1o years (since i joined military) last i heard he was back in MS taking care of his mom. If that was him that came through it would be odd that he is looking for big action as he doesnt hardly gamble (didnt before)....

That is why I don't think it was him...except I didn't join the Military.

And, one man's big action is anothers jump street...

I think you're right, this may be the Dave Smith who used to live in Richmond, VA. Haven't seen him in about 8-9 years. Tall lanky blond guy who was quite a player, very educated. Glad to hear he's out playing again. If anyone knows how to reach him, please PM me, would like to see how he's doing. He is a nice guy.

Yeah, but there is a guy who if I'm not mistaken, used to be called Dave Smith, who i used to see him like 15 years ago in the Maryland Baltimore area.

If it's the same guy with the stickers on his cue, he's the guy that beat Strickland in the South Jersey Camel Pro 10ball event by snapping in the 10 ball 3 times in a row to finish it. Before that, i think he said that he had never ever beaten him before.

He plays Jam up pool or used to anyway. I don't think he's trying to sneak up on anyone or hustle. He just wants to play.
He's very straight forward.
Really nice guy from what i remember.

Seven 10 balls on the break in that race to nine. Strickland got hot because David got Scott Smith (tournament director) to rack for Earl's break after the first couple shot that way. Earl just kept putting up the same rack and he said David should have done the same.

Earl would later said he "missed the cut" in I think 17 straight tournaments after that match until breaking the streak by winning the US Open again.

David invented the racking template sometime after that match and before the demise of the Camel Tour.
