Anyone care to share about Whitten Cue Cases

I have been considering a order a Whitten Model 42-F (2x4 Case with the Two Pouches & Padded Carry Strap), and was wondering if any Whitten Case owners would share their like and dislike of their Cases.

They are great cases. Only issue is if you switch cues that you carry alot the plugs in the bottom of the tubes sometimes do not always match up and you have to either take them out or reset them.

That this is the only thing I can nit pick about should be a pretty good indicator of how I feel about them.

One other thing....the top zipper can and will fail if there is too much upward pressure on it from improperly cut plugs.

There 2 nit picky things. Good cases.

Ive got three of them so you can guess what I think of them. Ive got 1 too many just like you want to order, black lizzard embossed. PM if you are interested. Its like new condition.

A Whitten is a finely made, handcrafted case of perfection. Its all I've used for years...and I've yet to so far as see a single loose stitch anywhere. Dan does excellent work.
My only advice is that the 2x4 is ovalish so it kind of wants to slide off your back when carried on your shoulder....I prefer the 3x4 as the backside is flat and lays better without wanting to slide. It just makes for a more comfortable case...plus then you have extra room it the basically same size case. You can use 1 tube & 2 shafts for your main cue, 1 tube & 1 shaft for a j/b, and then 1 & 1 for a sneaky or extra cue for sale.;)

3x6 can get a bit heavy

I've had my 3x6 for years and although I don't play much anymore, I do recall how it seemed to get heavier every time I used it.

Great quality and offer great protection for your cues.

Yes...the 3x6 is quite a bit larger & heavier than the 3x4.;)

My baby

It's the only case I've ever used. I bought it about 5 months into my pool career and it's about 17 years old now and still working just fine. I have abused this case in every imaginable way. It has been widely ridiculed for it's appearance and has led to me being called "too cheap to replace it". All of the zippers have been replaced and the lid is now on upside down thanks to my dumb ass repairman. It has been to Vegas as checked luggage about 30 times. Been thrown, beaten, borrowed, duct-taped and run over but refuses to die. I've been trying to talk myself into a Justis case as my last case I'll own, but I'm afraid this Whitten may outlast me as a player. It hasn't been a good looking case for, oh, about 16 and a half years but I'm convinced that it's my good luck charm. For it to have lasted with me for this long, I think I owe it the courtesy of letting it die at it's own leisurely pace. :)

Great cases. Treat as a fine piece of leather furniture and it will look great for years to come.

I have owned several and all were good. Like any case made things can fail like zippers but these things are fairly easy to repair.

Fantastic post. The Whittens ought to put this up on their front page as the star witness.

Welcome to AZB MrGreen-------- I'm sure you'll get lots of fresh whitten opinions from your request. I love both of mine.

You also can do a search for "whitten" and get pages and pages of comments/opinions for Whitten plus Justis, Murnak and Instroke etc...

Whitten

In MHO they make the best cases I own 5 , (3) 2x4 & (2) 3x6.
The only drawback to them is if you collect older (fatter) butt cues they do not fit that well or at all in the butt tubes .
Your cues will be very safe in the case.

I own three of them. They are a very solid, well made case. You could hit homers with the 1x2 LOL. I know my cues are protected if the case is banged or dropped. Great product.

All I can say is I like their cases very much and I ordered a custom 3x6 recently. I have been dealing with Joe Whitten (Dan's son) and he is good people.

Thank you. I don't think my mere words can describe my love for this case. I think if I were to use some well placed "wisconsin chrome", this case might just live forever!!

Wow lots of great information

Thanks for all the replies, now I just need to get my Tax Refund to order a new Cue Case, but I will admit I am a little confused now as to what to order, as someone post a link to Murnak Cases, and they also look very nice.

Whittens are great cases, but I would like to see a top handle on thier 2x4 and up cases as part of thier base case, not as an extra. Also they could use a jump handle pocket. The best thing about them, if I had to pick one thing, would be the easy to access roomy pockets.
