Anyone else have PacMan Cup suspicions?

KD you put way to much stock on what's said on this site
Only a very small fraction of the pool world knows it exists only a fraction of those actually read and post here and even a smaller amout actually believe more than half of what's posted
It had zero effect in the pool world

You are wrong sir your name and reputation follow you like karma. It is up to you, if that karma is good or bad!

It can be at an individual level, national level, racial level & etc.

I'm all for a U.S. boycott of Manny's events! Also, banning Pulpal or Pulpal or whatever his name his, from big U.S. events. By the same token, I'm also for boycotting any Barry Berman events as well.
Both Shane's and Biado's shots were obvious. It's not like they shyt the 10 ball in and tried to claim they meant to do it. Calling a foul, though within the idiotic rules, was just nitty and gutless! On top of that, for Pulp?? to then dance around the table like a mongoloid having a seizure, just added more proof of his unsportsmanlike character.
after all is said and done, Efren would probably have won anyway...

why not ban the ref too for calling a foul? and while your at it ban alcano too for pointing it out. ban strickland too for climbing on top of the table like a chimpanzee after his match with busty in the 2002 9ball world champinoships. busty was grieving the loss of his child then.

Now, why would you even entertain those kind of thoughts? You must be some kind of very unhappy person who never amounted to anything close to winning. Just because a former world champion and a Hall of Famer to boot who everybody envies had his moment of glory and proved to the world that he still got what it takes
to win, you start thinking negatively. Just because your boy got his butt handed to him early you start looking and inventing excuses. I would have you know that the guys who beat and eliminated him were all monsters that you wouldn't want to play for money! Oh, by the way, those guys will also take everybody that you can put up for the cash, which we all know you wouldn't even try.

Do you know what happens when these players from Asia plays here on in some "suspicious" tournaments? They get to play and eliminate each other early so that their favorite player would have a better chance of winning! And then they get stiffed!! Try that one for size! TALK ABOUT "SUSPICIOUS!"

I don't think "your boy" is an appropriate description for the top player in the US and definitely a man who should be on everyone's top five radar worldwide. Anyone know how much cash he left the Philippines with?

Oh my! There's twenty Asians in a field of 64 and you have to play one another? That's not suspicious, it's simple odds of the draw.

It was bullshit for both Shane and Carlo. You could be the best player in the world and there is no such thing as being professional because the sport isn't professional. Professional means well organized events with equipment standards, one set of rules and a governing body holding players responsible for how they act. Alcano should have been a sportsman and given up the game to Shane. I was very impressed with how Shane handled the situation.

Now to clarify, I'm happy Efren won! I hope Efren wins everything from now until the day he dies or quits. You wan't to see something new??? Watch Efren.

If you want to go that route then Shane received a first round bye in each of his 3 consecutive US Open wins. What are the odds of that happening 3 times consecutively in fields of 128? I don't believe it is seeded because Darren Appleton who won in 2011 would have received the bye in 2012.

Is that a serious question? How many first round byes are there? You sound like you believe he's the only guy in the field who received a bye.

What difference does it make if it's a first or second round bye? Does it take something away from Shane three-peating one of the toughest events in the world?

Yes, the US Open 9-Ball Championship uses seeding. Appleton did get a bye in his first match in 2012: http://www.insidepoolmag.com/201210/billiard-news/2012-u-s-open-9-ball-kicks-off.html

First off, I'm not stating ANY facts here, just opinions based on what I've not seen.

I didn’t watch the 1969 moon landing on TV. Maybe it’s just a hoax.

I didn’t watch the footage of the JFK assassination. My friend told me he thinks it was not the KGB or the Chinese, but the N. Koreans.

My co-worker went to Texas to visit his wife’s folks. He swears he saw Elvis flipping burgers.

This year it was only him and Mika Immomen. So 2 out of 126 players. The US open gets close to filling up every year. I am just saying you either have to be extremely lucky to receive 3 consecutive byes or the draw is not random.

It makes a difference as he had to win one less match every single year than his opponent in the finals. Whether the US Open is still one of the toughest events in the world is debatable. None of the top asians played. Heck not even some of the top americans played because they don't want to deal with the non payment issues.

I do not like the direction and tone of this thread! Unfortunately, I can't do much about it!

Comparing Manny Pacquio and Barry Berhman is not a fair comparison!!!

Neither is

Comparing Manny and any other USA promoter. Some with years in the sport contributing versus his freshman/sophomore debuts.

Way too much complaints and not enough thank you for trying! IMO

FYI, he was referring to the us open 9 ball draw for numerous years. Check the boards and you will see the trend!!!

His comment was a nice way of saying people in glass houses should not throw stones. There is enough glass here in the USA for sure!

Thank you for correcting me. I said that in a different thread and nobody ever responded. Please disregard my comments about US Open byes.

No problem. The seeding process is rather non-transparent so far as I can tell, because of the lack of good, complete rankings. I think the seedings are decided by Barry and anyone he asks for advice. Wasn't Jay involved in the seedings this year? I'm not sure of that.

In 2014, with 126 players for the 128-man field, there were only 2 byes to fill the chart -- SVB and Immonen.

In 2013, with 170 players in a 256-man bracket, they had 86 byes, and if you look at the chart you'll see that they went to known players.

Incidentally, Shane did not get a bye in 2007 when he won his first US Open 9-Ball Championship -- 9 in a row that year vs. 8, 8, and 7 in a row in 2012-2014.

Did you speak to him on the telephone? I'm sure there's shenanigans that could be called out at just about every place you play but it still doesn't take anything away from Shane. No top Asians in the field eh? Who was that tiny fisherman that he played in the finals?

First off, I'm not stating ANY facts here, just opinions based on what I've seen. And I am a HUGE Efren fan.

Women's Championship just played on ESPN2 last weekend. Must call 9 ball. They seemed to remember it well. Are men that much more forgetful?

SVB's could have been explained as it was early in the tourney. Biado must have played 100 games by the time he "forgot" to call the 10 ball. Did he remember the first 99 games?

Manny runs a 2 event tourney (singles/teams) in Philippines. The Pinoy legend (and Manny's hero) wins the singles.

I'll let the conspiracy theorists have at it in this thread. I don't like to make accusations directly. Don't know what gambling options, etc were available in the Philippines.

Note: I did not watch any matches in this tourney, so do not know if Efren did recapture his youth and shoot lights out all week.

It's up to your generation to get these Schmucks out of Congress. The actions of corporate America and the Agendas of Citigroup need to be put on a leash. I can understand why your OP is as such. I grew up during years of integrity and ''keeping your promise''. I don't blame you for thinking in this manner, as all you've seen is lies and misdirection and entitlement. You need to vote in someone who cares about ''we the people'' and then your lack of trust will get back on track. Have a great holiday season with family and friends.

Merry Xmas....

I sure hope this is a mistaken post but I don't know how you could "quote" a post and respond to it without noticing what it says.

It's either an unintentional reply or you need to put the pipe down.

I was kind of lost on that response as well. And not sure how old Island Drive is, but I'm no youngster myself.

I am not talking about filipinos. I am talking about guys such as the Ko brothers and Jung Lin Chang and others from taipei/china. Maybe you have heard of them? If not, watch matches of them beating Shane and that tiny fisherman at BCA Nationals back in July.

I think it is great that he has won 3 times in a row. I am just saying the field hasn't been as strong the past couple years. He may win it a couple more times in a row considering players again having trouble getting paid. Justin Bergman said he won't play next year if things don't change. Shawn Putnam didn't play either.

Conspiracy theories are almost always off base. Usually the simplest explanation is the correct explanation- that Efren happened to play well enough against the players he was matched up against to win. End of story.

I don't like being a stickler about calling the case ball (especially when it is obvious) but I think that had nothing to do with any type of conspiracy. The guys just happened to forget at inopportune moments.
