Anyone else practice to rock'n'roll?

While practicing in my game room, I love to turn up the volume on anything by the Grateful Dead or Jerry Garcia Band. Also stuck on Dylan, Bonnie Raite and Susan Tedeski.

But the Dead seem to bring out my best game. You?

Try listening to some Pink Floyd. Their guitar draws the perfect beat while you're running out.

When I was in college my senior year I would get out of class Friday around 2:00 in the afternoon. I would go to work and grab my check. First stop was to cash my check, then fill my gas tank and then get a case of Bud cans and a carton of Marlboro.

I would head back to the house, crack a beer, crank up one of my hundreds of Live Dead Tapes and shoot pool for a few hours. Nothing like cranking up the Dead while playing. My favorite tune to crank was Friend of The Devil. The fast version off the Dead Set album.

I mostly keep it heavy and fast. I guess it keeps the boredom out.

Anthrax, Machine Head, Pantera, Rage Against The Machine, etc.

I prefer not to listen to anything mellow while playing.

im a little younger but i like listening to some metal when i shoot. I think it just helps get rid of all the things that would normally run through your mind while shooting, and lets you focus on your game.

Good music is never a distraction. but when i hear janis joplin i cant make a ball for some reason. If u wanna beat me outta my money just put $1 in and play that bobby mcgee song. it will ruin me everytime

I always practice to the classic rock station that's broadcast over my satellite TV tuner- good stuff.

What's the point in callin' shots?
This cue ain't straight in line.
Cue ball's made of styrofoam
and no one's got the time

I don't know what the hell that means but I always enjoy that verse. LOL. Knowing Robert Hunter (lyricist for Garcia) it probably has some really deep or obscure meaning, with historical or cultural significance.

The owner of a local pool hall near me seems to have great (IMO) taste in music. He plays a lot of Dead and JGB tunes. Puts me in a great mood.

I love listening to Metallica when I play. I will also throw on some Stevie Ray Vaughn and some other guitar blues rock stuff. Mostly Metallica though.

Classic rock is good for me. Highway to Hell or Back in Black albums by ACDC, old Aerosmith albums, first Van Halen album. The first Montrose album is great for pool playing too.

old metallica is the best to run out to

I like to practice/play to about anything, but my favorites are Godsmack, Kid Rock, Metallica, Motley Crue, Theory of a Deadman, Soundgarden, Led Zepplin and Johnny Cash.

I prefer the clicking of the balls, and no music, but if I had to have music it would be mellow jazz of accoustic music.

Just as I expected when I posted this thread, we've got a wide variety of tastes on this board. Soon as I saw the Rolling Stones suggestion, I put on Hot Licks. And of course you can't go wrong with the Beatles, though I'm surprised nobody suggested them.
