Anyone ever dealt with Mcdermott for refurb/repairs?

Just bought 2 shafts in the "sale" forum...

Was considering sending them right to McD to have them cleaned up, ferrule & tips replaced.

Never had this done before, just curious as to what to expect and the opinions of those who had work done by them.

Thanks,
Mark

not sure how long it takes McDermott to do these kinds of repairs as the Manufacturer is not always the quickest option. Scott Sherbine @ Proficient billiards or the guys at Ryan Theewen @ Muellers do great work for good prices. And I'm sure their turn around time is better than McDermott.

^^^^^^ I would have to also agree with this. McDermott does great restoraton/refinish work but something as easy, simple, and fast to repair I wouldn't send it back to McDermott for that, I would even go one step further and say support your local repair guy take it to your local repair guy and have it done, it would be much cheaper since you don't have to ship it and most likely have it back within a day or two. Here is even a list of most all known cue makers and repair guys in the NY area. Hope it helps and good luck.

or you can just do what I do, and wait til you happen to be somewhere where Joe Blackburn is (the Derby for me), he's done it all, and is GREAT. I have also used Pat Diveney a few times with excellent results.

I do have a friend that sent in an old C - series McDermott to have it refinished, and it looked like new when he got it back! GREAT finish!!! But, shaft work, save your shipping costs and find a good repair guy....

My experience is that McD is fast and the work is high quality as is the customer service. I wouldn't hesitate to use them.

I have Mc D work on my McD cues from time to time....a shaft restoration, a custom turn shaft, and wraps the longest I waited was 2 weeks. Living in WI I got to go for the visit. There are quite a few locals that will drop their cues off after leagues wrap up and tell Mc D to take their time and e-mail them when done. Nothing negative here. JIm
