Anyone going to the Mosconi Cup?

I'm coming up Sunday, staying till Friday.

Looking forward to seeing the new venue, and a bunch of old friends-new friends. It's going to be a GREAT time for sure.

Let's all meet one evening somewhere.....Best Billiards maybe? Maybe Tues or Wed evening? Bring your sticks along.

After watching USA whup some European ass all day, it would be fun to try and whup some myself.... :grin-square:

USA

Very nice, Rick. Looking forward to seeing your great pool pics. :)

I'm flying in on saturday and will stay at the Mirage, working for Matchroom as the event photographer  and we'll update AZB with the best news coverage and pics!

Althought I'll be very busy all week, don't hesitate to say hi if you see me and introduce yourselves.

I'll be moving around a lot on the floor but also in the audience sometimes to get different angles. And I usually carry a camera (if not, something's wrong )

This year I'll have an assistant to make sure I don't miss anything!

As far as photographers go we're only allowed a few on the floor and with this year's demand only the old-timers got in... Rick Schmitz, Ricky Briant will be here. And a couple of others from Europe.

Space is going to be really tight!!!

...See you all there :)

Thanks for the info. I know you're going to have a blast. Looking forward to seeing all your pool photos.

An assistant? Like you need one....LOL Have you ever missed a shot?

I'm envious....Of you, and the camera! You are capturing stuff that's never been seen in the pool world........incredible shots of emotion.

Matchroom knows what they are doing....all the way around.

signed....... 'old timer' LOL

hey PonyTail - you staying @ Riviera? Matt & i will be @ Mirage - land SAT @ noon.

(avatar is me & KK9 - yáll can find us @ the High Limit Lounge, @ left before the penthouse elevators & True Pour/Poor Bar @ right)

FIVE DAYS TILL I KICK ENGLISH SANTA'S ASS

Riviera? Say what? LOL

Staying at the Flamingo Hilton, they gave me a deal I couldn't pass up. I always drive, so no big deal. I like to get out anyway. I like plenty of fresh air :) Should be great weather.

It will be good seeing you guys again....:)

son of a b_tch - it just started SNOWING @ NC!
it had better STOP, like ASAP, so we can get to MOSCONI!

In an effort to try and meet AZers -

Here's the floor plan for the main floor. Looks like the ballrooms are all in the back right (relative to walking in the main entrance). I assume there's back entrances there, but don't know.

When you walk in main entrance there's a bar called Kokomos right there, just a tad to the right. We could meet there Monday morning, say 10 am? It's right in front of the zoo and next to the giant aquarium that stradles registration.

We can try, but I think after might be better? (for me anyway) People are going to be standing in line pretty early to get in, especially if it's general seating again? I'll try my best.

I sure hope there is a back entrance w/parking....it's a hike from the parking garage to the back. Probably not as bad as the MGM was though....THAT was a walk.

There's a self park garage (it's on the floor plan diagram). It's to the right of main entrance. Whether you can walk outside around the back "as the crow flies" or have to go in main entrance and weave through the casino, I don't know.

You could take a cab from the Flamingo, it's one block down and across the street. @ $5 fare and assuming there's a back entrance you'll be in like Flynn.

Kokomo's bar @ main entrance

see this big hunkin' rock?
see the registration desk behind w/ the MASSIVE aquarium?
this, is the ENTRANCE to KOKOMO'S.
and it's open 24/7.
the Beatles Lounge (and most others) is only open PM & special entry only.

Rick, you're right. perhaps we could all meet SUN night? otherwise, we'll get a Plan B on the smoking veranda @ Convention Center.

Grand Ballroom & parking

picture this - you walk into the MAIN entrance & you're standing in the Lobby.

Registration, is @ 3:00.
Kokomo's, is @ 2:00.
Parking Deck, is @ 3:00 - but way down the hall past Registration & out the side door.
walk straight through the Casino, and curve/stay right, (like a circle). fork right to ELEVATORS/POOL/ZOO. the hallway to the GRAND BALLROOM/MOSCONI, is @ 1:00 (as if you're still @ Lobby). before you walk outside to the pools/zoo - turn RIGHT down that hallway @ Coffee Bean & Burger Joint. follow the pool cues....

- there is NO outside access via taxi @ the Convention Center/Grand Ballroom.
- there is NO side entrance access via taxi @ Parking Deck (doors are closed due to paving).
- parking is free, but you have to take the bridge over to Mirage side entrance Level 2, take the escalator down to the NightClub/Registration, and then go around your elbow to get to your thumb....
- taxis need to drop everyone off @ MAIN entrance.
- there is an outside "veranda" near Grand Ballroom, for smoking.
- if you drive in, you can pull up @ front entrance/valet, & have them PARK @ Parking Deck @ N/C. then when you leave, go back out front @ Valet & have them bring you your car. $2 tip, each way. takes 5 mins to get your car vs a 5 min walk to parking deck....

Good info Pinky. Navigating through the mega casinos is always a rat maze of fun. I think it's intentional!

The gal at Mirage Pinky spoke to said even valet parking is free (tip not withstanding). And that in Vegas, parking at casinos is almost always free. We never knew this since we always have cabbed it.

Also, for you smokers - there is smoking allowed in the gaming areas. Not in restaurants, shopping areas, hallways, events areas. And there's a door leading outside to smoke near the Grand Ballroom.

what dates is the Mosconi cup this year, nobody that is going mentioned any dates for the event, i would love to go but dont know when it is...?
