I haven't heard a peep out of anyone as to how that's going this weekend. Having been to a few Tiger Planet Pool tourneys, I've met a few of the players in that area and I'm curious as to how things are going.....

i dogged my first two matches.........so i was on the sidelines quick.

although the action was good afterwards to me :D

VAP

I've done some of the worst dogging possible in big tournaments. Played Santos in a Pechaur tourney, score was tied 7-7 and I missed a 2-foot simple cut on the 7 ball, Santos finished that rack and broke and ran out the last one. I was so embarassed, that shot is like a 19 out of 20 for me with no pressure. After the match he smiled and said "Almost".

And to add, Ron Zampko took 4th (I hope to share a very bizarre? cool? pic involving him soon, get your head out of the gutter)and I took 5th, loosing to Zampko 9-8, after missing a very makeable 6 at hill-hill. I have the layout on a piece of paper in my pocket, like my scarlet letter, but here it is-

CueTable Help

Could have gotten anywhere between either a/b or c/d, but the pockets were tough, so I didnt want to force the cb with either topL or lowR, I hit it hiR to come 1 rail up, between a/b. Last thought I had was 'don't touch the 9 on the way up. Well, I shot the 6 into the facing and it hung. Left Ron this.

CueTable Help

He makes the 6 and leaves this (remember position zones a/b or b/c)

CueTable Help

I think I am shooting again, but he SNAPS the ball in the side, lowL and everything. I am probably 2-10 at best w/ that shot, but that is irrelevant coz he struck it perfectly.

He made the 8 and I surrendered.

Hi, Black-Balled! At the conclusion of the tournament, EVERYBODY went over to Side Pockets where there was action jackson galore!

A couple of North Carolina roadsters were playing Brandon Shuff for a very hefty sum, 8-ahead. The road player, wanting to be anonomous, of course, called himself "Chewing Tobacco." :D

Check out the pictureof the ergonomically correct cue stick! Ron Zampko had the cue stick custom-made with a wood that I can't remember the name of. Hopefully, Black-Balled, you will remember all of the specs. A straight-shooting Ron Zampko, who came in fourth place, BTW, with a crooked stick! He is also a regular player at the U.S. Open and is from Virginia Beach, Virginia! :p

Here's a better close-up shot of Ron Zampko's cue stick! Check out the wood, very unusual!

And that is the pic I was going to share. Thanks for posting, JAM. You think you PFD looks unique? I think this one is moreso...IIRC, the butt is 1pc of VA Blueberry and it sounds like it hits HARD. It is also 60", Zampko is 6'2"+

About the action, I would've liked to stay down there, but I have already been at work for 2+ hours.

The guy Brandon was playing watched me practice for about 45 min and was still asking me for some action. I hope he left town down!

Action

Hey JAM,
Any word on how Brandon did in that game? Oh, and I thought that tournament was very well run, but I found that the tables played very inconsistent. Some were fast, some were slow, some were like playing in a sandbox. Josh did a great job, except for when, after already showing my DC license, I was asked to go out to the car and produce my rental agreement because I had MD plates. I think I was "Black Balled" ;)

The draw was certainly not in my favor this weekend although I was glad to cash out. I played Larry in the second round and didn't play too bad, but he played pretty well. Then, in the match to go to 5/6th, I missed one ball that I wasn't jumping or kicking at and still lost 9-5. That tells you how well he was shooting. Then he jumps up and lays an egg against Brandon

All in all, very good tournament with a lot of VA and DC talent. Watch out for this Chris Futrell kid, he's an excellent shooter and his composure is going to help him become a champion. The kid isn't scare of anything and he doesn't get down on his self when things aren't going his way. He did almost jump out of his seat in the hot seat match when Keith bobbled that 7 ball, then it fell. I felt a little bad for him, but he will definitely have his day in the sun.

The best part for me this weekend was meeting some great folks down there in Richmond. I finally met VA Pool Player and he was very cool. I was very impressed with Todd and Parrot Cues. When I am ready to move on to a custom cue, I think I'm going to let Todd take a crack at one for me. Hope everyone else had as much fun as I did. Talk to you soon.

I thought you looked like a cartographer! I did think you were a MD resident, but I didn't say anything to anyone, except Brandon and JAM, at which point JAM said you lived near her, in DC.
Good tourney for you though, eh? 7/8 ain't too bad, especially on those tables.

1. Not like you to miss that 6.
2. How in the H E double hockey sticks did he fire that 7 in the side???
3. Is this the weirdest guy you've ever seen in your life???

1. :(
2.
3. Yes, but he was actually quite cool.

What more can I say

It's cool

I am actually a cartographer. I know why you thought I lived in Maryland. When we played that one time (I think it was only one time) a year and a half ago (Planet Pool), I lived in Westminster, MD. Remember that discussion? I asked you what accent you had and you said "Northern Virginia". For some reason you sounded to me like you had an accent (British). Weird, huh?

Anyway, Josh told me that a couple people complained about me saying that I was from out of town. It's no problem, like I told Josh, I think it's good that they check up on that stuff. Besides, I'm not the kind of guy that would try to sneak into a tournament that I wasn't eligible for anyway, so it didn't matter too much. The two minutes it took me to run out to the car didn't make a bit of difference and I'm glad that we were assured that there would be no carpetbaggers, since Lee Holt and Josh Brothers were in town.

On another note, I couldn't help but notice your high level of play. You totally dominated Larry in that one match and I commented to someone on the rail how you would be the perfect guy to go on the road because you play so steady and smart but don't do anything too fancy or flashy. That is if JAM would stop posting your picture all over the forum...Just kidding JAM. I'd like to get a copy of that pic of me and Black Balled when you get a chance. Thanks.

So, is chew'bacca from your neck o' the woods, or are you just clarifying the pronunciation?

And, whaddya think about the stick?!

Hmmm...
The cue is a little weird.
I don't think i could play with it :D

I can't remember exactly where Chew Tabacca is from.
It might be somewheres in NC?

~*~EDIT~*~
Actually, "Chew Tabacca" is the long version
"Chew'bacca" is the short version :D
