I'll be in Chennai and Bangalore for work arriving on Monday.
Doubt i'll find much pool but wouldn't mind playing some snooker.

Anybody in that area? Or does anyone have any recommendations of where to go?

Cheers,
Sneaky

Sorry to ask favors.

Can you please let "Harry" know 2things for me:
A: I don't have student debt
2) I know his damn name isn't really Harry.

My son is there now, again. He is in Bangaluru (Bangalore). Very difficult to find a pocket billiard table in India. It's pretty much all snooker. This is my son's 2nd one month trip in the last three and this time around he bought himself a cheap snooker cue.

If you have never been, it takes forever to get anywhere. Hope you have a native driver. Something like 12 million in Bangaluru. Very wide streets and no painted lanes. Free for all with bicycles, scooters, pedestrians, and the occassional bovine weaving amongst the cars.

My son has a very open mind. You need one there. Your Indian colleagues will help you out I'm sure.

but snooker is a pocket billiard game............

wow man what a job you have, congrats ,enjoy

Actually Snooker is not a Pocket Billiard game. There are three major and distinct billiard games; Snooker, Carom Billiards and Pocket Billiards. They all have their own separate variations.

I've left out other minor billiard games like Pyramids, Skittle Pool and Bumper Pool.

If you search for "billiards" on google maps, you'll get quite a few places to choose from in Bangalore. If you've never been to India before, it can be a bit of a culture shock for sure. Bring lots of Imodium and drink only bottled water! The pool halls will definitely be more of a local's spot, and you'll likely get quite a few looks since you're an outsider. However the people are very friendly and I'm sure you can get some cheap sets! Have fun!

Jay Helfert wins on a technicality. :-)

Can i get a more detailed explanation?

Pocket and carom are classes with various games under them

Snooker, is a game

A game played on an english billiard table
Like tenball and english billiards and golf

Depending on what campus you are visiting most of the big companies have decent pool rooms on site. I go to Infosys twice a year and we always use their facility.

My son's company site in Bangaluru has snooker tables but the sticks are crap. That's why he bought a snooker cue. Cheap in our dollars.
