Anyone interested in a cue W/2 Gus Szamboti shafts ? I could never afford a Gus Szamboti unless I won a lawsuit/lottery or if it was given to me. Always wanted to know what they played like. Abut 8 years ago I am putting Szamboti's on my E bay watchlist just to see how much they sell for. Right after 1 of the szamboti with 2 shafts sold, the seller put 2 Gus Szamboti shafts for sale. Well I jumped on them. I asked him why he didn't sell all 4 cues with the cue, his answer was the shaft I got for 400 didn't roll 100 percent straight on a pool table.I had my Local cue maker design a cue around and built to specifications the Gus Szamboti cue that sold .Here is what Mystick cue creator Jack Kompan came up with around 20 oz as is the Szamboti with 4 types of wood, Pink Ivory, Tulip-wood, Redwood and Birdseye Maple in matching ring-work. Jack told me ha had cured one of the shaft but the second one still had a little bit of Roll. Hey 50+ year old shafts have every right to be a little eccentric and roll to their own beat.

It seems like you are being pretty straight forward about everything.
why whiteout the price of the shaft/shafts ?

I think that has nothing to do with the sale, & he has his reasons. I'm sure they where not cheap... he has provided the proof of the shafts, he seams solid, good luck with sale. Dom

A Szamboti with shafts very similar to mine

If those shafts fit the pin pictured on the Mystickcue, they are not shafts off of a Szamboti cue.

Other than the fact that the rings are completely different, and the joint type and style are completely different.

The only thing they have in common is some red in the ringwork.

Gus DID NOT make cues with that pin. Therefore he did not make those shafts if they fit on the pin / butt pictured.

He did not use an 18 pitch pin.
I suggested he try to get some kind of paperwork, but this may be a case of ebay inaccuracies

I just spoke to the seller from 2007 tracked him down He verified that the cue was refinished at the szamboti shop in 2007 before being sold on eBay. But it was 16 years ago technology was different then. Picture were taken on camera and he didn't have any reason to save after the sale. If any one can tell me how to contact the shop, records exists of the refinish in 2007.

The seller can tell you whatever he wants.
