Anyone Interested in Old School Car Audio For Trade

I used to have a pretty extreme car audio system, but over time I had a couple of kids and have switched vehicles and I just no longer have the passion for car audio that I once had. Instead I seem to spend all my free time with pool and dealing in pool cues and pool cases.

If anyone is interested I have a couple of high quality old school amplifiers that I would be very interested in trading for some pool equipment. The big dog of the two is a Phoenix Gold MS275 which was a very popular competition amp in its day. It is easily capable of 300 watts RMS bridged or and it has gold plated triple darlington technology. The other amp is a Phoenix Gold M25 which I used to power some highs.

Make me an offer. I would be very interested in a Predator Sneaky or a Predator Shaft. I would also consider any plain jane or sneaky petes and such in trade. I would also like to find a nice 2x4 case or somthing similiar. In general, make me an offer and let me know what you have if you are interested.

Very nice amps as I have the same one's.Good luck

Thanks for the nice comment. The amps are really great, I have had them for a number of years and they are just rock solid with really great sound. I really don't think they build them as well as they did a few years ago. Between these and the really old school Rockford Punch amps, the old school equipment is truly the best!

Anyone interested please let me know

I am open to all offers before I put these on Ebay. Since I am hopelessly addicted to pool, I would rather see another pool player get a good deal on this equipment and I can get something pool related at the same time.

If anyone is interested in these really nice old school amps, please shoot me an offer or a trade offer. I have bought and sold a lot of cues and still have a lot of stuff that I would like to try, so please hit me with any offers or ideas you have and I will let you know.

Thanks,

dakota

THIS TRADE IS RIGHT UP MY ALLEY...... YOU LOOKING TO TRADE ALL THE STUFF PICTURED FOR A PREDATOR CUE? LET ME NOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING.

P.S. I HAD TWO FRANK AMP'ENSTEIN'S..... YOU GUYS REMEMBER THOSE? IT WAS TWO MS 2250 IN ONE HEATSINK. I'LL HAVE O SEE IF I STILL HAVE PICS OF THAT SET UP. I STILL ACTUALLY HAVE TWO SPL VEHICLES, I'LL SEE IF I HAVE PICS TO PUT UP.

P.S.S. THE OLD SCHOOL STUFF WAS NICE, BUT TOP END EQUIPTMENT FROM TODAY GIVES THE OLD STUFF THE 5 OUT AND THE BREAKS.

Dakota, have you been able to strike a deal yet? I was thinking about trading up some audio here myself, but felt a little funny about asking for a trade . If you've squared up and didn't mind, I'd like to throw up some gear of my own. I'd really feel weird posting up a second thread of this type.

Thanks either way; and if you are really looking to avoid eBay, I might have a place for you to get rid of those amps. PM me.

Dan

Thanks - Still considering all offers

Thanks for the nice comments guys! I have replied to all messages and I it sounds like I have some strong interest and a couple people that may be looking to strike up a deal, but nothing final yet. Thank you to everyone that sent me PM's or that showed interest!

By the way, those are some damn nice SPL vehicles FAST_N_LOOSE. It clearly does look like the car audio trade would be right down your alley.

Oh Yeah, I remember the Frankampensteins and the coffin looking case they arrived in at the dealer and also those cool Route66 amps. The old school equipment was just soooo cool and it did have a really crisp clean sound that I really liked. Old School Phoenix Gold and Old School Rockford were awesome and I still think those JL Audio 12W6 subs were some of the best subs for many many years.

The Phoenix Gold amps don't get that hot, but I remember some older Linear Power Amps that I had that got hot enough to fry an egg or more than likely your skin if you touched them after they had been running for a long time.

I HAVE MY OWN SHOP IN PA, DIRECT CONNECTION. I HAVEN'T DONE THE SHOW CIRCUIT IN AWHILE, BUT I WON SPRING BREAK NATIONALS IN 2000, I WON IASCA'S IDBL, AND THE SUPER STREET 3-4 CLASS IN DB DRAG RACING, WITH THE COPPER BLAZER IN THE PICTURES.

How can you say new stuff gives old the 5-out?!??!

I haven't been into audio the better part of 8 yrs, but old school Autotek, PG, and RF were the absolute shit back in the day... Couple that with JL subs and MB Quart or BA components and you're rockin'....

Nowadays I hear the JL amps are on the verge of unbeatable though...

THE TECHNOLOGY TODAY IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. THE STUFF DELIVERS MORE POWER, MORE RELIABLY, WITH LESS HEAT AND DISTORTION THAN EVER BEFORE. I HAVE AN AMP THAT DOES OVER 1000 WATTS, WHILE ONLY DRAWING 35 AMPS OF CURRENT, AND NEVER GETS HOT. OH, AND IT SOUNDS BETTER THAN THE OLD AMPS TO.

THERE IS MORE JUNK MADE TODAY AS WELL, BUT THE TOP END STUFF, IS LEAPS AND BOUNDS BETTER THAN THE OLD STUFF.

I STILL ENJOY THE OLD SCHOOL SHIT, I HAVE A LARGE COLLECTION OF OLD AMPS/WOOFERS. I HAVE THE OLD POWER 1000 FROM FOSGATE, A FRANK AMP'ENSTEIN, A VLX 400 FROM US AMPS, AN OLD MS1000 FROM PHOENIX GOLD, AND A PILE OF SMALLER OLD STUFF AS WELL. I WON'T EVER USE THIS STUFF AGAIN, I JUST DON'T HAVE THE HEART TO SELL ANY OF IT. TO BE HONEST, I'M NOT EVEN SURE WHERE I HAVE MOST OF THOSE AMPS STORED.

Yeah, I remember heat being one of the biggest issues, as was draw - you could run 500watts and still dim the headlights on those things...

I have a very good friend from TX who has the largest collection of old school RF amps - larger than what Fosgate has themselves!! For the longest time he used a power 1000 and an 18" sub in his mini truck... LOL

here's a pic he sent me of his latest toys.... (blured to protect the innocent):

THE CLARION THUNDERDOME..... I BUILT AN SPL VAN FOR CLARION WHEN THEY RELEASED THAT THING, LET'S JUST SAY IT LOOKED BETTER THAN IT WORKED. IT WAS A GREAT SALES TOOL THOUGH, THE KIDS LOVED JUST LOOKING AT THE VAN. I NEVER TURNED IT ON FOR THEM THOUGH, IT SOUNDED WAY TO BAD, AND I THINK I HAD A CAR WITH 2 10'S THAT WAS LOUDER.

IT'S A SHAME THAT HE CARS I BUILT, I ONLY HAVE REGULA PICTURES OF, IT WAS A TIME BEFORE DIGITAL CAMERAS. IF I CAN FIND A SCANNER, I'LL SEE IF I CAN POST SOME MORE. I BUILT 5 EXTREME CLASS CARS, AND HAD SET WORLD RECORDS WITH ALL OF THEM. I'LL SEE WHAT I CAN DO WITH THE PICS.

Yeah, it's more for looks than anything else.....

Best system I ever had was stuffed into a 91 Mustang LX.... 4x JL Audio 10w6's pushed by 2x RF punch 4040's and mids/highs run by 4080's.... Would shake the shit out of anything....

Speaking of "for looks", I had a "friend" talk me into a McIntosh amp one time.... most overpriced POS I had ever seen.... Sure did look cool, though... :)

Nicest (for function) "show" vehicle I had ever seen was the Cerwin Vega "Stoker" van.... insane stuff...

Damn, maybe I need to pick up a few things again..... :o

I wish I had never sold my two Power 1000's. I had two 18" RF pro series woofers bandpass in the bed of my truck ported into the cab.

I've used pre-mitek Xtant amps in my last two systems. If they ever croak I don't know what I'll replace them with. Cleanest amps I've ever heard.

YOU KNOW I CAN TAKE CARE OF YA..... I KNOW YOU LIKE THEM XTANT'S BUT THERE ARE NEW ONES THAT ARE JUST AS GOOD IF NOT BETTER.

I DIDN'T REALIZE THERE WAS SO MANY BASS HEADS ON THIS SITE.
