jay-i think you came across him once. i asked him if he knew you after i read pool wars.
is that so?
ferociously fearless. ive never seen somebody spear the ball as well as he does-100 mph for the cheese! we were going to play a ring game tonight but there were some no shows-i was watching those 88' akron open matches between keith, earl, and mike hynes earlier and i got to picking his mind a little about those guys. he has so many funny stories-maybe he should write a book......kinda sad to think that when all the players of his era are gone that a good many of those memories will die with them.Well mike and i did make 1 good score,at hotshots billiards in baltimore, this one friday night there was a ton of action in the room, best thing all the good players around did not really know how good mike speed was,if he was right, and i dont mean any drugs, mike could play outstanding at times, well this night he did just that,he beat every top player in the room that night,we win around 5thou,mike beat every body at banks,1pocket and 9 ball, now we go back to the same room next night, mike get in a 1 pocket match with a guy name pookey from the dc area, make a long story short we agree to bet most of are money in a race to 5,mikes down 4 games to 0,mike comes back to put it on the hill,we lose because the other guy won the coin toss he breaks an runs out! This is the straightest up man in pool that i ever meet,he would play anybody, and never dout his self, always thinking that he was going to win!
Oh yeah, Mike hit em pretty good with the ladies too, he turned many of them into good backers, for him and me too, hahahahahahaha ! We had some good times let me tell you ! luv mike
WHat happened up there? I was @ a Green Room (? place next to the bingo house?) a few weeks ago and it looked like a ghost town.
thats hilarious! Mikey laughs heartily and says, on well, I still won won the cheese.Talking about mikes nicnames,he earned this one, garbage can mike, mike and i are in a bar room in baltimore, its getting pretty late so we are both drunk by now, mike has lock action on the pool table,i peek over every now and then, mike is running out, running out,and so on,iwasnt pay much attenion to the game,i was in conversation with some one,but the last time i look over mike was running out again,so i turn back to talk some more, and then we heard a very loud noise,i look around to see if mikes alright, well i dont see him i can only hear him yelling for help,so i go over there and theres mike laying in the garbage can, there was a step up to the pool table, and mike feel off of it and landed right in the can,so we called him garbage can mike for awile.
Awful news. Mike told me he once played Danny DiLeberto for 3 days straight and broke even. Must have been one hell of a sweat. They really don’t make em like Mike anymore.Sad to say mike passed away about a month ago....October 2020

Knew a guy who fit this description to a tee. He played around Lake Charles, La. for a while in the late 1990's. World beater. The more money you bet the better he played. Did he ever tell you the story about when his wife sent him out to get a loaf of bread? It was at Caesar's Palace that Mike won the Miller Lite Tournament. His
nickname out here was Nutsy. Don't be misled- he was as far from a nut
artist as one could be. He would play anybody that stepped up and he played fearlessly. He would shoot at a white flag and usually got out.
His style was fast and straight forward and exuded nothing but confidence.
The same night he won the tournament he went to the Serene Room
(A big action bar at the time) and matched up and over the next several
hours blew most of his tournament winnings. I was around him quite a bit
back then and I never saw him get out of line or tush hog anybody. He
was always a gentleman and I hope he is doing well. His name comes up
quite often when we're telling war stories
