Anyone know this cue?

I have had the cue for awhile. I'd like to know who made it. 5/16-14 stainless joint (pretty thick), Ivory Buttcap & inlays. Older smooth leather wrap, looks like a Spain blank. Everything on the cue fits nicely and has a real quality feel.
Any ideas?

I'd guess an early 80's Paul Huebler custom shop cue. I've seen a similar "Heart" cue with an ivory joint at that time. Its a mystery as to why there isn't any logo or other distinguishing markings on the cue.

i know it well

no one knows who made it.

all they know is its a spain blank and something is very special about how the hearts are inlayed.

if you look at zeeks avitar (the szamboti with the heart inlay) the heart is much straighter.

from what was told to me it was very difficult to do these hearts round like this and this cue was made by a master cuemaker

you should contact don sureman ASAP.

he has the same exact cue and WILL NOT SELL IT bc of what he thinks it is or may be

Can you pull the bumper and let us look up into the base please.
Also, run the cue through an x-ray, there may be a signature under wrap. Gordon Hart

What's bothering me is the texture and color of forearm maple, this cue appears less than 20yrs.
Wood developes color because of acidic properties, I don't think it's old enough to be Spain, maybe Hercek.

how far are the tips of the points from the bottom of the joint collar??

3. If that's a performance cue, I'll eat my hat, I don't believe you have anything special there.
Looks like a runoff of some kind of weird Helmstetter, circa mid 1980's.
 
I still think it's most likely one of the guys from OK. Kinder, Guffey, etc....could even be Randy Anderson. Think you've got look look at who all Burt (and briefly Joel) sold blanks to. Not a Libra. Definitely not CP. Maybe there are a few other west coast possibilities....Gary Allen perhaps? Butt sleeve dimensions and arrangement should be the most important in identifying this, and the butt cap and weight bolt assembly.

Roger, If you will provide us with some of the photos/dimensions of the things mensioned above, I'll check my Kinder cue to see what it's dimensions are and what the inside of the butt is like to see if that's a possibility. I know Kinder did use some Spain blanks....

i agree.
the owner and i talked in a pm as well a sherman and i on multiple occassions.

as i told him 2 hrs ago the butt sleeve and cap size is what is tripping me up. this is why i cant get off bs/jh. pics of the bumper in and out might help. also the shaft inserts

that is a key to the maker but more importantly we need to see who made the hearts round like that.

if we could find exapmles of that inlay it would help a great deal.

i think JH sould be contacted. if he hasnt seen the cue he could clear up alot. sometimes the simplest answer might be the best

This Is One Of Those Mystery Cues, That Will Alays Be A Mystery. I Think Everyone Has Seen This Cue, And No One Can Be Sure. There Were Alot Of Very Talented Cuemakers, That Only Made A Few Cues, And Then Stopped. It Could Easily Be One Of Those Guys That Nobody Has Ever Heard Of.


For All Any Of Us Know, The Cue Was Made By One Maker, Broken, The Handle And Butt Replaced, And Then The Inlays Added Years Later........ I'm Not Asying That Is What Happened, But It Is Plauseable.

Good Luck In Your Search. I Tried A Few Years Back To Get That Cue From Don, But He Wouldn't Come Off Of It. It Plays Very Well. Nice Stiff Traditional Hit.

How have you been? If you liked the way this cue played before you might like it better now...........I like the original shaft but I had a couple extra Tascarella shafts laying around so I had the rings changed to match this cue. Maybe I was mistaken but I thought you once owned a Tascarella.
