Well it actually is a pad. Red fiber pad. Its installed on the back of all those tips...often not too well either. When I have a customer request a Triumph...after I glue it down I'll then pop the tip off the pad with slight finger pressure and then reglue it. I'm always amazed how easy they pop off the pad. I figure better for me to do it & fix it correctly than have it accidentally pop off for the customer.

If the tip was old ie. over 4 years old it could have been a Chandivert BB.
