I need to order or buy some fiber pads, and I was thinking on making my own.
I have a hole punch kit if that would work.

Wondering if any of you guys made your own and could point me in the right direction where I could buy fiber sheets.

Thank you

When I was experimenting with a shaft with no ferrule, I used a pad cut from an old DVD. It has worked well.

By that I mean the wood hasn't split, even though I use it for breaking, so it's doing it's job of protection.

The pad is clear, so I didn't get a sexy color, but it's certainly strong enough.

Neil from New Zealand experimented with cutting CD discs. He never got back to me on his findings. He usually gets going on another interesting tangent in his PMs.

Glad to hear there are working for you as I also would like to try some.

Mike, I have 3 packs of pads from Atlas. 50 per pack. Blue, Red and Black.

I think that I have enuff for 5 life times. Probably more.

I found some hole punches for leather, but too small for larger ring work. Even for pads. Darn.

I searched and still no luck. I would love to find one at 2.50. I have a ton, (ok, maybe I exagerate some times, probably only half a ton), of natural veneers that I got a decent price on from Prather. I would like to experiment with making some rings and dying them.

Bought a big leather hole punch kit for doing stacked leather wrap on my Pocket chalkers.
If that turns out ok then i will start to do stacked leather wrap on pool cues.
I do understand it is 2 different technics.
My point is I have the hole cutters to punch fiber disc's out.

I am going to start putting the fiber disc on all my tip replacements.

Never thought of using veneers as a tip pad.

The veneer is too soft and will break down I would think. There is a reason for the dense fiber pads.

Just my penny's worth.
There are many types of fibre materials out there, and there are many types of carbon fibre sheet materials out there as well. Royce is well versed no doubt about the various carbon materials available. I have been working with CD's as Terry mentioned and they work very well. Been trying to find old playstation games with the very dark blue, but not found any yet. What I like about the cd material is that it is very flat.
