Anyone seen Dechaine?

The difference between you and me, Johnnyt, is that our lives are not put on public display in print for all to read. ;)

If the skeletons in my closet were ever showcased in print for all to read, I would not like it at all, and it would be very hurtful.

None of us are perfect, of course, and people do make mistakes. And some come back stronger than ever because of the mistakes. Sometimes failure and mistakes in life can be a good thing if it makes one stronger and better. :)

C'mon JAM...we're all friends here. Do tell us more about your skeletons. I figure they are bound to be more interesting than anything about Mike Dechaine.

You can still make a good life out of the pool world if you work hard, work smart and make good connections. Many have done it before. There is a lot more to pool than just hitting balls in a hole; cue makers, table and cue repair, room owners and managers, instructors, video and streamers etc. And that's only a few of the options available. League organizers/operators can do okay as well. There are APA LO making a healthy six figure income!

Sure thought Mikes problem was with Nelson Olivera and Mike Zuglan not SVB. Guess I'm just not in the loop anymore.

I ust to watch Nelson play a lot years ago in NB, I also found him to be stand up, whats the beef between Mike and Nelson ?

That's too bad if true. When he wasn't acting out he was fun to watch and played a very aggressive game. Unfortunately it seemed like he was always acting out.

In life, sometimes people fall down, some harder than others.

What shows strength, however, is those who can stand back up again.

I wish Mike well and hope he can learn from his past. We are all members of God's human family, and as such, we are all subject to errors in judgment and mistakes. Lord knows that I've had my share in my 63 years on this earth. :embarrassed2:

*Clap Hands*

We all fall down at some points. Some fall down more often than others. Lots of times, other people WISH that we fall down too, unfortunately. Learn and try not to make the same mistakes again.

Evidently, it was a racking issue at Snookers. I wasn't there but based on what I have seen since, Mike is no longer allowed to play on the Joss tour and I don't know that he's even allowed into Snookers. Nelson is still playing on tour so whatever happened must have affected Mike more than Nelson.

Thanks for the info. Never knew Nelson to start crap just for the heck of it.

At 29 years of age, it may be the best thing he's ever done for his future. He is still young and can excel in another endeavor if he so chooses.

Of course, Mike can always enjoy pool on the side, if he likes, and play part-time.

There are no benefits to playing pool unless you're in the top echelon of players around the world. It's not easy to win, place, or show every time you compete in order to break even. If you do win an event, you're so stuck financially from those you did not do well in.

I wish him the best and hope he can find his niche. 29 years old, he's a youngster in my book.

Yes indeed, 29 going on 30 is young. However, 29 going on 14 is an entirely different matter.

Dechaine took a train back home to Maine
He got caught in the rain, fell down and came up lame.
Now he's home resting and feeling no pain
His last words were, "playing pool for a living is insane!"

Jose,

From a local player who participated in the same event as Mike / Nelson, Mike was upset he could not play Nelson on the streaming table. They were scheduled to play elsewhere. Mike began to argue with Mr Zuglan and the discussion became heated. MD said some very unflattering things to Mr Zuglan and was immediately barred from all Joss Northeast Nine Ball events until further notice. This is the best information I have. As the information is second hand, I'd suggest you research it further. Perhaps someone on AZ can fill in the blanks, Sad commentary on a potentially great player!

Solid career move, let's see how it pays off.

I saw Mike at Busters Billiards in Somersworth NH on March 5 and Amazin Billiards in Malden Ma. on March 9th. Seemed to be having a good time.

Over the last 4 months, pool has been a roller-coaster ride to say the least!!

I love pool, I am fortunate to have been able to travel around the world and most the people that I have met in this game are some of my closest friends. Unfortunately, it is time for me to put it aside and focus on some other career choices. I am not saying that I will never play in a Pro tournament again, but that will most likely be the case for 2017.

Throughout my 10 years of playing, I would say that I am a player that has caught the eyes of most in this game. Whether it’s my ability or the controversy, being a topic of discussion has made me crack. I am known to be a fierce competitor on the table, but off that table I am just like everyone else. That being said, one of my biggest struggles with pool is alcohol and I need to put my energy in the right places to beat this. It’ll be a battle, but one I know I can win.

Thank you all for the support over the years

Mike,

Your description of yourself is spot on. If I had to choose two words to describe you they would also be "fierce competitor". Wish you the best of luck in whatever endeavor you chose.

Good luck to you. Pretty sure the pool world will be pulling for you. BTW, the talent+controversy is what made you entertaining to watch. Don't sweat the details just get back on track. Life is a long set.

Thanks for checking in Mike. Good luck in life from here forward and I wish you well with beating your next foe. Many of us are betting on you.
