Anyone who owns/has owned a Dale Perry cue

I believe that Dale wrecked his own market when he decided to go after the e-bay market with affordable cues. Not to say the cues aren't good, just that the values don't stand up. I think anyone looking at cheap production cues should spend a bit more to get one, I know I picked up a few cheap ones off e-bay, they seemed well built.

I fully concur with Jimbo on this issue. I have owned several DP cues, and played with one for quite a while. It played very well. The only issue was the decision made by Dale to expand his market, especially through Ebay. I understand the economic decision made by Dale, he needed to increase his bottom line. What that did to those of us who had paid a premium for his cues was to undermine the value of what we already had.

His cues play very well, IMHO. Jim is right on when he states that if you want to chose between a production cue and a DP, I would opt for the DP.

I've got 2 & another coming & I agree with Jimbo.
A lot of cue for the money. Not an investment but
shoots very nicely.

I have to agree

All -

I have a DP titlist conversion. I too, agree with all of the comments above.

It does play pretty well, but the resell has suffered. I suggest the DP cue for entry level custom verses production cue.

Best Regards
Ken

I have 1, and recently sold another here on AZ. I bought both many years ago when they were pricey - and the one I sold I didn't get 1/2 of my value back. It played good, but don't get one as an investment. You could probably get a used one dirt cheap if you wanted a bang around cue.

My first $1000+ cue was a DP and I paid full retail for the cue at $1200. My cue is the exact cue I've attached a picture of except mine had a solid black linen wrap. I liked the cue and thought it hit reasonably well. However, I realized that I prefer traditional styled cues and the fact that he devalued my cue by flooding eBay made me vow never to own another of his cues...lol.

We have 2 of them, both found in pawn shops. One of them I found before he started selling on ebay. It's a standard 4 point linen wrap cue with the old 5/16x18 joint, and believe it's a fairly early model cue. Paid 200 for it with 2 shafts, and a nice case we sold for 75, so really only have 125 in the cue. This past year found a purpleheart sneaky pete with uniloc joint, for 100 with case & I could'nt build one at that price. they are both solid cues and play very well. I have'nt really shot with any of the new models, mostly just earlier ones.

I bought one of his cues on eBay for 265...purple heart forearm and butt with 4 ebony points. I shot with it once, turned right around and put it back on eBay and got 310 for it. Owned it less than a month.

All in all though, they play really nice. I bought it just to see how they play and to offer it to a friend for his wife, trying to trade him out of his Omen. He wouldn't do it.

I bought a speedster off ebay. It's a nice cue, with kingwood points and holly diamonds. I would have to say that I agree with you in that it's a nice option vs. buying a production cue.

I know of a local player who had a fancy DP.
He retired it in favor of a Prewitt sneaky pete.
He was happy to sell it for $300.
Sad.

I have had several DP cues and I have liked them all. They all hit the same, very consistent. I would not buy one for an investment. If you can get one for the right price I would say buy it. I don't understand people knocking production cues. I think some good production cues are every bit as good as a custom cues as far as workmanship and materials. You will get more cue for your money in a production cue than you will with a custom cue. Most custom cues are way over priced. I have had many custom cues and I know what I am talking about.

i bought one on ebay for $ 125.00...it plays good and I use it in my bar league....

it is not sad when someone is in business and goes production......the man made a choice and he seems to b e successful at what he is doing....nothing else matters....

I just recently had mine on EBAY, although there was a bidder and sold the bidder never followed through with payment.

Digging up threads from 2005 you have way too much time on your hands I think
