Anyone willing to share photo(s) from Derby for free?

I'm writing an article for the Finnish billiard magazine about this year's Derby City Classic and was wondering if anyone is willing to give their permission to use a photo (or several) to use in the article? We're not able to pay for for the usage, unfortunately, but if you'd still like to share your picture, please let me know. Either on this thread or to my email address jajvirta@gmail.com

(I understand completely if you're not willing to share your work for free. If there's anyone who wants to, I'd really appreciate.)

Pool is in such a state that I cannot imagine that anyone wouldn't be willing to share their photos in an effort to promote pool. If you give them a credit line in the article, i.e., "Photo courtesy of RailbirdJAM," as an example, this could be attractive to some photographers who may have been on site at the DCC this year.

I don't have any pictures of the Derby this year, but I have a lot of pictures I have taken in the past of many pool players of all caliber. You are welcome to any of them for free. It would be my pleasure to help.

We just encountered a journalist writing an article recently for a German magazine who was looking for high-resolution pictures. The problem we found was that there were no high-resolution digital photographs from the '80s to give to him. He was looking for pictures of older players, but he needed high-res pictures. They just don't exist.

The age of technology sure is a great thing!

The problem we have with these old photos, is that they're being scanned at such a low resolution. The people scanning them tend to not be computer savvy, which is perfectly understandable.

I wish I had boxes and boxes of these old photos, that could be sent to me and I could scan them properly. Once that was done, they could forever be preserved with a high resolution digital original. They could then be burnt to a DVD and sent to several people to hold on to. This would assure of always having a clean original somewhere.

JarnoV... you're welcome to use any of my photos of the Derby.

Click on the link in my sig to my blog and then click on the My Derby Photos over on the right side.

Maybe I can get a few more days uploaded today to finish them up. I think I will also go thru some of my video and do some screen captures to get some interesting photos.

for photos to be of use

72 dpi in the default set on most scanners in the world. 72 dpi is what the web reads as. thats why unless stated (high res) most crap you get of the net is fodder.
good working dpi is 266. this is what the print world works at. so when you want to shoot a buddy a photo or or scan of some art work. scan it at 266 dpi. anything more and you just waisting space.

that should help in the sharing of old photos that i do so love to see on AZB. this sight is a living book of days gone by in pool.
