APA first place payout=JOKE

The ignorance I see here is astounding regarding league pool.
Many people get it and others don’t understand.
The APA (along with other leagues) provides a service. That service is organized pool for the amateur player who enjoys playing pool, hanging out with friends and even competition.
If people get into league pool expecting huge money they need to get their heads checked. As with any service provided, you need to know what you are getting into first and if you don’t like it, then don’t get into it. It’s a form of entertainment.

Do you go to a movie or a restaurant and expect money back when it’s done? Maybe not the best analogy, but these are service providers too and do you expect money back from them.
You should be luck that most leagues even give paybacks.

Do you complain when you enter a tournament and say only the top 5 get paid out of 16? Do you ***** that the house gets green fees or the tournament director gets paid for running the event?
If the answer is no; then you need to realize that the APA and other league pool operates in basically the same way. If the answer is yes; then you should reconsider the game you are playing and choose something else.

iownthe412...There is one inescapable fact. The APA is not now, never has been, and never will be, a "payback league". APA Corporate recommends to ALL L.O.'s that they do NOT run payback leagues (that doesn't include local L.O.'s paying cash prizes in playoffs and city cups). However, it is up to the local L.O. what they do. When I was an LO, I asked my players what they wanted. 1 out of my 5 league areas wanted a payback. They paid more in fees, and that extra money went to paybacks. It was all above board, and every dollar was accounted for. I don't disagree with your take on it, but to expect a payback in any APA league (without specific intent from the L.O. upfront) is being delusional, imo.

I think you are underestimating what a moron this LO is.
It's good standard business to make your customers happy or you will lose them. Anyone who plays in the APA is a customer and the customer is always right (at least they think so). The website is garbage and could not have totaled to a staggering value (I know because I designed the website for the company I work for). The scores are rarely updated. Again, the payouts are weak. And the guy does absolutely zero advertising.

The APA/BCA/UPB is a CORPORATION.
That means they operate off of PROFIT.
LO are nothing more than franchises of the larger corporation and therefore need to make profit to continue.

Any more questions on the basic model of capitalism and or business operation???

What actual "work" do us APA players actually do to deserve some sort of profit sharing? None! Someone else sets the league up, enters the data, schedules matches, sets up Challenges, etc. All you have to do is show up, pay 6 - 8 bucks, play your match, and b*tch about the handicap system. If you want a bigger payout at the end of the session why dont you suggest that your league dues get raised to $15 a night?

First question..
No, they probably can't afford to after they give the person whose couch they've been sleeping on some money(finally).

Second question..
Again, another No. These are the same people that whine and cry that the person who beat them wouldn't have had their been "real" rules, or maybe that they couldn't make a certain shot again, or that they just weren't into it, or.. I'm sure you get the point.

Bunch of freakin crybabies and whiners.. those leagues oughta make more just to put up with some of you. Hell, I'd just chalk up that extra fee as a babysitting charge.

I think I'm starting to see a difference.. since the APA has less skilled players, they often come off as "jackasses". Since the BCA has more skilled players, they come off as full-blown "%^&holes".

League was fine and I had no problem paying the money.. its the damn players I can't stand.

Have any of you ever played softball, soccer, or any other adult league sport? The payouts are exactly 0.00 in 99% of them. Why should this be any different? If I want a shot at some cash for playing I hit up a local week night tourny.

Apa payout

Pigs get fed and Hogs get slaughtered..I play on teams in two different cities. The payouts are different than night and day. One pays very fairly for session winners and has many tournaments and contest with extra cash and incentives availiable. The other gives basically Jack Squat. You need to approach and challenge your local league operator because he or she has much more flexibility than you make think..
Side note::: You may want to think about moving to the Raleigh- Durham- Chapel Hill Area !! However I am sure you could find some moaning and groaning here as well..

I think it is a very fair percentage compared to any other pool league or tournament. Where else do you have a one in eight chance of advancing and earn enough money to pay for your travels. Look at the pay outs and the percentages of winning. You always have a 37% chance of earning money every session and there is a 50% chance of earning money in the single elimination.

I had a friend who won the APA session and when he told me I congratulated him. I said how much did you win? He said nothing but I get a trophy! If you win the entire league and go to Vegas all they pay you is enough to get out there and back plus a hotel if you are lucky. You don't win crap with the APA

Did you ask him how much he paid? It wasn't $150, what he would pay in your "tournament". I'm pretty good at math, and the average player in my $6 APA league comes out ahead of the average player in your "tournament" after just two sessions (I'll do the math here if you want). In other words, you keep more of the players' money than the APA does. Exactly how is your "tournament" "based on the players earning the money" when collectively they have less money at the end than they would have if they all played APA?
