APA Masters question

The info is still confusing me a little. I'm going to give them a call on Monday to find out what is going on. I replied to KT's comment that I need to play 6 by saying that I guess I will play Masters till January. She comes back with she was mistaken and there are no minimum requirements for me to play Masters....she was thinking about minimums to play regular league.

I work 630pm-630am Mon-Thur and sometimes Mon-Fri so my league time is limited to Saturday for Masters once a month and Sunday. I gave up Sundays for a lot of reasons including spending more time with my family.

I can play a lot of the best area players right here in Hickory at Randolph's Sunday tournament. Heck I can walk in at noon pay $5 to play till 530 and then pay $10 to get into the tournament.

I feel your pain about working so much, for the past seven days I have been out of the house by 7 am and not home before midnight.

Hickory does indeed have some of the best players in the area, but getting around to all the different rooms in the area and playing some folks you wouldn't generally get a chance to is kinda cool though.

At my room here in Charlotte, they let all APA members play for free all day and night Sun-Thurs. I've been meaning to get up to that Sun night tourney in Hky, just as soon as my work commitments slow down I shall!

I hit different rooms here and there and I really would like to stick with Masters, but if I have to put money into something I don't want to in order to play I will just cut my losses. For myself it has a lot to do with principle and it certainly won't effect how often I am playing....just how often I play APA.

I am not sure what you are saying is true. I joined the Masters in Frederick MD without being on a regular team. If you play in Terry Justice's league, and it appears that you might since you are associated with Columbia MD, then we did have that option.

Our league allows S/L 5s and above. I have always been curious about an SL 5 getting onto a Masters team and in the regular session he goes back down to an SL4.

Hey Wolf how's it going? I play Masters in Lee's Area, not sure about what Terry does but that's how it's been down here. Not a qibble just stating that their not the only one's with the rule it's just new to them.

I played in Lee's league for about 7 years and I thought he was a good LO. However, I can see that Lee would do this just to make more money. I like Terry's league better.

Hey Renfro, do you know Davy Crockett,

So basically what they want is for you to play regular so they can make the masters players 7s and then they will have to break up their standing masters teams because of the only 2 7s per team rule???

From Chattanooga, TN? I was just wondering if you knew him? He has a big pool hall in Chattanooga, TN.
Thanks.

Thank you to all that replied. I was trying to find out if this was local, or national and I guess it's local.

I want to add one thing to this thread. I certainly have nothing against the APA and hope I didn't come off as bashing the APA either.

I also want to add that the LO in this area is great. She puts on the cities here to a pretty big expense of her own bringing in 80 fresh Diamond BBs along with the Diamond lights and fresh balls. She also pays out $8k for the first place teams that go to Vegas in all those city tournaments. Just because I don't agree with what is going on with Masters certainly doesn't mean I don't recognize and appreciate all of the hard work she does.

Just wanted to post this before someone gets the wrong idea.

Classy.

Reps to dude...I don't always agree with my lo either, but she does a great job.
And its more about the sport with her.she puts up with alot.
Hats off to any one that runs any of the leagues.
Good nite..one to many for this guy..smiles..chinesse eyes,jk

I spoke with my new LO yesterday and Mark Gokey assured me that to play in Masters there is NO REQUIREMENT to be on a handicapped team.

I wanted to set the record straight because I was mistaken. Any of you MD guys who don't want to play handicapped in order to play masters are welcome to come on over here and play.

Finally called the local office and their reply was that I just had to pay my dues which I thought I had to do anyway. Looks like I'll be sticking with the APA a little longer :)

Had an interesting week of everything turning to hell and it all just worked out great starting with this Masters deal.

Good to hear. Our LO out here is pretty good, too. You couldn't pay me enough to deal with a bar tournament, much less an entire league area.
