APA National Team Championship

im in for masters also. maybe azbers should wear name tags with their azb name. im staying at casino royale probably. gonna get some dolla beers at osheas and peruse center strip. does ellis island still have 24 hour karaeoke with real cheap beers hmmm?
you all got the 8 if i get the breaks.

Pretty sure if you post your number, you can have action from a decent number of people there.

My team is competing in the 8 ball tournament, I will be in minis etc. I am really curious how the 3 point scoring system will affect play since this is the first year used.

I'll be getting in some time Monday night. I plan on trying minis for the first time, too. May be a dangerous time to since it'll be during the masters event. :embarrassed2:

Nationals

One of my teams finally made it to Nationals. I was there last year for National Singles but this will be my first time in the team event. The APA puts on a fantastict tourney. I'd love to meet up with other AZBers while we're out there and get to know you.

I Miss The Riv

I miss the Riviera and all its wonderful crustiness. I miss dodging cars to run across the street to Slots-o-Fun. I miss the food court and the nearby Denny's and taco shop. I wonder how many more years she's going to hang on.

$$$$

I am out here now. I got a few guys with me that I will back verse anyone that is interested. PM me if you want it.

I live in Las Vegas, I like to go and check out the vendors and just hang out. I even won a Viking cue once!

I just got back from being there for a week just to shoot in the minis. Did well again and usually can win enough to cover the cost of my trip. The APA does a really good job with this event. This was my 10th. year in a row just for the minis.

Having lots of fun here. Was on a banks bender for hours. Tough competition on the outside tables. If anybody's still here, I'll probably be in the wicked Vicky's room for cheap action or, more importantly, more banks games, probably around 10 or so. I'll be in the tan shorts and collared beigish apa shirt.

Just got home...

This was my first year going we finished in 33rd out of 716 in team 8 ball. With 5 players we won 5 and lost 1. My guys did great, faded all the nonsense, and over came a lot of tough spots. I moved one of my threes up when we got there to his new ranking back home. Then they moved one of my 3's up to a 4 and one of my 4's up to a 5. They put watches on us and we still won but in the fifth round it got tougher. The two teams we played after that both had 8 players both higher skill levels and lower than me. In the end we had 6 me, a shiny new 5ish, two solid 4's and another new 4ish player. The 5th played 7, 7, 4, 3, 2, we lucked out on one of their 7's melting down on one of my solid 4's and we took it 8-6.
Then we played a great team from Chicago who had been their before made it to the top 16 previously. They played 6, 5, 5, 4, 3, but they had other possibilities they could have played and probably still gotten us. I couldn't believe we managed to get that far considering but my guys did great and worked hard till the end. And the guys who got us have a great chance in the field that is still in it they were a great team.

anyway I had a great time.

KMRunout, you're having a pretty good year so far.

Anybody have any stories from the event? That place was packed, so I imagine there's got to be something out there.

I was there for teams 8ball and masters. Got 17th in both events. I had lots of fun and saw some real good barbox pool. Anyone who is just being a hater about APA is speaking from a point of ignorance. Say what you want about APA, their national events are the nuts. Really well executed and full of talented pool players.

I've been before for the singles event, but the team event flat put it to shame, with tables everywhere throughout the place and even action going on almost nonstop. I may return next year just for that and maybe the minis, too.

I also couldn't believe how fast the mini spots were getting snatched up when they went back for sale.

My last masters match took place when they had the thermostat problem. Talk about having to sweat (through) a match..

Congrats on the decent finishes, too.

I'm not sure how I missed this thread, but I got into Vegas on the 13th and got back on the 19th. It was my first trip to Vegas and first trip to the NTC's. But I promise you one thing, I will be there next year.

Most everything people say about the APA is true to some regard, but the tournament was run smoothly and orderly.

Sorry I missed the chance to meet some AZ'ers but I'll do better next year. I'll make sure I find this thread before I leave.

Ben

<<<<during my last match I attracted the attention of the APA photographer
