APA rank & innings

A fresh perspective

I was playing as a 6 in eight after taking several years off of pool altogether for a few years.

There were teams that would throw their threes against me simply because they figured nobody on their team had a good chance at beating me.

I like to think that I did make it fun for the lower level players. The only reason I played APA was because I saw a lot of people who didn't really have a ton of tools, but enjoyed playing. I figured that I could impart some knowledge while getting back in stroke.

One of my happiest moments was after a game when a guy slammed a ball trying to draw back and failing, I gave him one tip to try. Next game he beat me when a very similar draw situation came up and he made perfect shape.

Good on you DD!! really nice to hear a fresh perspective. I have not thought of the match up in this light. I too try to help out lower ranked players, but have always done it after matches.

I guess my point was as an 8, I have to give a lot of weight. Until I get my spread, gonna be running balls and playing safeties. Never having a shot and constantly kicking at balls is tough for some. Hell I've had to hold the rack in my hand for 4-5 racks, and although I enjoyed the show the player was putting on, I would rather have had an openings! ;)

Did your team recently qualify, or has it been a while? Chances are that if you have just gone up to a 5, you're not in immediate danger of bumping up again to a 6. You either drive 70 miles, throw away your $7/14(or up to $28 with the wife) and throw your games, or you practice and become a good 5. I'm thinking that you're more likely to be part of the second scenario. Being a 9 sucks for playability, but it gets you to also rely on your teammates. Be that good 5 and give the team some backbone. If you do, I doubt anybody will mind, especially you. And who knows, maybe one of those 2s will drop. There's still a ways to go, so don't let up on learning.

Just qualified in 9 but we have won our division in 8 ball for 3 sessions but not this session. I was a 4 for 5 sessions and I have been a 5 all this session and wins are 75%.

I will continue to learn but will fish and do more helping family then normal and practice less until I know were headed for vegas or until fall.

8-ball 7.5.5.4.2.2.2 23 is not a problem if we can play up to our handicap

9 ball 9, 5,5,4,2,2,2 one of the top 3 must sit out.

8up, you need to take an Arithmetic refresher course. On your 9-ball team, one of the top three does NOT have to sit out. Play your 9, both 5's, and two 2's and that adds up to 23. Bingo!!!

Maniac (still doesn't know the difference between a verb and an adverb :embarrassed2:)

true but i went to the Bodine arifamatic classes and was a drop out. Maybe it only seems we have a problem making it because 1 of the 2's (was a 3) can not play at any playoffs do to work where they will fire her if she takes time off. she will quit the job should the rest of the team get us to vegas. Another 2 is really a 1 at 33% win. He would have to play as a 3 in vegas I think.

So after all my typing yes our team could use some work.

I am a 5 and got beat by a 3 in 8 ball monday night she is a good 3 2-0 in a 4-2 race
