I joined the APA mid season when asked by a friend to play Masters. We play all the matches and are way out in the lead! Then the APA takes 2 weeks worth of points (42) from my squad and sends another team!

Get this, the reason stated for the 42-point removal! The members last year had a $40 to $50 remaining balance! Absolutely, nothing to do with this year’s team! So, I asked, “What does that have to do with me a brand new team member replacing someone that left????”

Get this, the members that remained from last year never knew about the short-age and once notified paid in full!!!!!

The league has all the members phone numbers and never called!
The league has all the members email addresses and never emailed!
The league has all the members’ addresses and never sent a bill!
The league has reps at the room every week that never spoke to the team!
The league allowed the team to add a new member despite missing funds!
The league allowed the team to play week after week paying its weekly dues!

The only notification made by their admission was a small note amongst 50 pages of advertisements in the weekly envelopes! Something very easily missed, if you play league you only pull out the score sheet most weeks!!!

The point is that the league operators were told about the problem and admit the above failures but have not reinstated the points and corrected the situation. Because this is Masters level you do not have a playoff! The top points leader goes, that’s why its such a huge penalty and one I might add that penalizes a new returning member that was not involved.

If they notified you even by a small note, then they notified you.

Frequently in the discovery phase of cases we are bombarded with thousands if not hundreds of thousands of papers and we have to view them all. If we miss a small note then our client is the one who suffers.

Honestly the APA is a bunch of non pool promoting idiots, they like to keep the players at a certain level, they don't promote getting better, they just want there weekly dues and could care less about any1 else
 
That is not an APA issue but an issue with your local League Operator. Some do a great job while others not so much.

Your captain shouldn't assume that all the papers in the envelope are useless and should take a couple minutes to look through them.

Our LO always posts any unpaid dues on the sheet that you are given every week. My understanding is also (atleast in my League Office) that if your team from the previous session has outstanding dues you can not start the next session.

I also wonder how many weeks that small piece of paper sat in the envelope. It's not the leagues job to chase down people and act like a parent. Your captain should have known very clearly that his team didn't pay enough the previous session. It's the captains job to make sure everyone has paid their yearly dues and their weekly dues when they play. Sounds like your captain isn't very organized.

Something tells me its the apa just being the apa. I have so many horror stories its just sick. I was out in the nationals a few years back with a team and I had a guy on my team raised after losing 3 cosecutive matches against his own skill level. In my hoest opinion he was overhandicapped to begin with. But according to the apa he was a 6 instead of a legit 4 that has never won a state, qualifier, or vegas match, now thats bogus

I can certainly understand your point but I don't think it's exactly the same thing. You as an attorney (i assume that's what you're saying)are "paid" to represent your client so the responsibility is on you to be thorough. Likewise, the LO is being "paid" to represent the players in the league and look out for their interests right? Why wouldn't the LO bare some responsibility beyond inclusion in a huge stack of paper? If the potential penalty is so stiff shouldn't they bring it to the specific attention of the teams affected? I run a BCA league with about 200 players and would have absolutely discussed this in detail with a team before handing down some arbitrary ruling that effects so many people. just my thoughts...

I've never seen a case where the APA doesn't try to help players get better. Our local office even sponsors Kelly Fisher who does Q&A on our local leagues forum.

The APA national office puts out teaching video's on youtube by "Dr. Cue" on a weekly to bi-weekly basis.

People complain that as they get better and go up in rank it makes it harder to win. Well, yeah, and IMHO that's a good thing. It makes you better because you have to work harder. That happens in ANY handicapped league. That's why they came out with the Master's division for people who want to play without any handicaps.

Do you complain when someone will only play you if you give them the "7-out"? Does that make you have to work harder for a win? Do you feel better about beating that person knowing you gave them weight than if you beat them straight up? Same thing. It's not for everyone, but some of us enjoy it.

The same thing just happened to my APA 9 BALL team that I was on.

It takes St. Louis a while to discover this (we were into the 5th week).

In Md our league operator (Terry Justice) was very good about communicating with all of the involved parties. He even gave us a chance to get the fees paid and keep the player on the team. It sounds like your league is SCREWED UP.

I am in Terry Justice's league! I live in Maryland!!!!!

Not so good!!!!

Been told its Lee's district 4 Laurel, MD I thought you own the state? Must have sold Part?

Not sure if he was talking about annual dues for a player or weekly dues they were short. By the statement he made about $40-50 makes me think it was in that range, which would have been weekly dues. AFAIK St. Louis only keeps track of annual dues for a player, weekly dues are left up to the LO to both set, collect, and keep track of.
 
most apa operators I have met, not all mind you are blood sucking vampires out for the dollor only and if you are not in there click you are fu5ked !!:eek:

And a very large number of pool players (not all) are the cheapest ass patrons of any establishment possible. The stories I hear from room owners make me cringe... Things like known money players coming in racking up a $150 bar tab, walking out with $1k+ in winnings, and leaving $0 tip for the bartenders. The bartenders who went out of their way to treat him special because he was a known player. After that, the owner asked him not to return to his room.

Maybe part of the problem is that players seem to think people who make a living by running leagues, tournaments, rooms, etc are blood sucking vampires is that if they don't act that way they will go under... And then where will you play?

Feature that,the apa pulling a fast one,is terry looking for a lil kickback to help pay for his airplane. talk about rags to riches at the players expense, hey terry!!!! give something back to the players that bought that big home,fast cars & an airplane.

While you're at it why don't you ask for every person in the business of billiards to give you something back.

You exact attitude is what is wrong with billiards in the US. It's all about "hey, what's in it for me? give me something!".

Hell, when is MLB going to give something back to me? I bought tickets and hats! I also bought tickets to a football game and some shirts, so when is the NFL going to give something back? Damn those NFL and MLB team owners getting rich off us fans. I'm going to boycott them. Damn them for taking my money that I gave them willingly and enjoyed my time doing what I paid them to let me do. I want them to give me back more.

Reason why I don't play in leagues. I like to be in the corner and play with myself, I mean play by myself :D
 
If the APA is so bad, how did they end up with more players than any other league in the country?

Is this question directed towards me or just everyone who dislike APA in general?

Here is my 2 cents. I dislike and wouldn't play in BCA or APA because most of the Halls I go to around here, (I'm there even during league night) and see much too many bone heads that annoy the crap out of me. The guy who thinks he is super man because he made 2 balls in a row. The guy who never learn how to STFU, the guy who tries to "teach" you and tell you what to do on every shot, the guy who sharks you, the opposiing team's rail birds walking pass while you are down on a shot ready to shoot. Yes, I am in a rant lol.

I dare not say every person who plays in APA or BCA or any other form of leagues are bad players or would I say that everyone of those are bone heads, because that is not true and very irrational for anyone to say. I have seen good players that play in leagues, but from my personal experience, I have seen one too many bone heads that would have me ending the night by breaking a few of their bones. In order for me to not get in any trouble, I prefer to play by myself or with my friends and maybe go shoot at a tourney here and there just to see where I am at.
