I was thinking the same thing
*Last season the captain quit!
*Then 3 of the remaining players decided to continue!
*A new captain was picked!
*The new captain was never trained or given a rule book or manual!
*they add a new player to replace the loss of the captain mid season "ME"!
*We play all 10 weeks!
*At week 8 points VANISHED!!
*Week 8 the captain calls about the missing points and pays for last years captain's mistake!
*Week 9 the points are still missing captain thought upon payment there reapplied and calls again!
*Week 10 no points! Talk to Rep and Regional Rep!
*The league has all the members phone numbers and never called!
*The league has all the members email addresses and never emailed!
*The league has all the members’ addresses and never sent a bill!
*The league has reps at the room every week that never spoke to the team!
*The league allowed the team to add a new member despite missing funds!
*The league allowed the team to play week after week paying its weekly dues!
All of these MISTAKES by the league and they want to hold this Years Team responsible for a MISTAKE by LAST YEARS CAPTAIN NO LONGER IN THE LEAGUE AND LEFT THE TEAM!
essentially, the point is the APA gave ZERO NOTICE about the rules!
As far as we know they are making them up as they go! To suite whomever and whatever they want!!!!!!!!!

If my LO let our rep know about this I would be embarrassed and highly upset. It would have taken him just as long as to talk to your captain as it would have the rep about this pending problem.
There is no training for new captains(In Detroit). The rulebooks he gives out once there is a new one printed(this is not every year)Other than that a new captain would have to request one. Im not for or against APA. I would quit the league today if I could but my wife wants a night out with for us together. The way you came on here ranting about something you only know half of I wouldnt give you the points back either. There are better ways to handle this and AZ forums isnt one of them. What did you think they were gonna do say " OMG he posted on AZ forums we better give him his points back"?

I've been asked many times to play in the APA and won't for the sanbagging reason.
I've actually been told to make sure I lose my fist match so I'd have more time before my handicap would go up.
I can't understand playing and not giving your best effort.
I also wouldn't be crazy about showing up and not playing.
I enjoy playing in leagues and tournaments knowing how good my opponent is. Making an art form out of Sandbagging and rewarding it is just a waste of time.

As far as the APA reinstating points or doing the right thing. They will never let me live it down that I publicly humilated the league by exposing the WRONG deeds perpertrated against myself and the team.
The only solice I have is that it reached 2000 plus members and continues to fester and undermine their FINANCIAL enterprise.

Well you take the time to figure out if the APA is gonna lose any money over this thread after you pay another night of league.

I'm sorry, but I doubt if the APA is overly concerned about an internet posting by one player. They may not even be aware of it. And if they are, I doubt they feel "publically humiliated"..
Now, as for undermining their financial enterprise, I also have doubts that a dozen players, and probably far fewer, are going to run out and quit their APA team because of this thread. I think their income is safe for now.

Mosy everyone backing the APA on here are stating that the league help generate income for the ( ROOMS ) AND IS HELPING TO KEEP THEM OPEN. tHAT IS BULL SHIT 99% OF ALL LEAGUES ARE IN DANK BARS FIGHTING TO KEEP WHAT DRUNKS THEY HAVE, THEY WANT BEER AND DRINK SALES.......THEY GIVE FREE FOOD DRINKS and etc. to the league operator for having the teams in there..............APA IS FOR THE BARS ONLY.........JUST AS THE VNEA IS FOR THE AMUSEMENT COMPANY THAT HAVE THERE VALLEY TABLES IN THERE BAR...............NUMBER ONE GOLE HELP THE BARS AND AMUSEMENT COMPANY............SECOND THE LEAGUE PLAYERS.................BCA.......FOR THE PLAYERS. MY 2CENTS.

OMG im so sick of APA. You wouldnt believe what happened last night. I have called St. Louis this morning. I talked to Terry Bell himself. He said there was nothin that he could do unfortunately. " I feel your pain" terry said. I will never play APA again.

apa higher ups really only can say or do at the national level, not league level, the operator payed and bought the franchise, they are the all ruling in that retrospect, and they rule without a open mind.
1. Should the league have notified the team captain?
Yes. That's typically done on the scoresheet, but a call or email was warranted as well.
2. Should the captain have ensured that the team was up-to-date on their dues?
Absolutely.
3. Should the op just chalk it up to a learning experience and move on?
Yes.
I'm sure a lot of blame can be tossed around here, but I really don't want to do that. The APA does not have a perfect system, nor does any other league out there, but it does alot of good, not only for pool players, but the economy as a whole.
Good luck in your decision making process and don't write the APA off based off this one instance.

OTB has the apa pegged. I couldn't have stated it any better. Its all about cliques and money.
The national org. could care less what goes on as long as the money keeps rolling in.
I had rather play the ghost with a cuetec house cue than feed that bunch. If you want to keep your pool dignity = STAY AWAY FROM THE APA.

My concern is thst the league operator never called anybody. A phone call is not so expensive that it was not possible.
I think a note randomly placed in a packet is not really sufficient enough, considering the total ramafications.
A seperate letter should have been mailed so that the league operator knew what was happening , and a letter sent to the team captain to notify of the problem. An emal could also have been sent.
My take, is that who ever is running that show made a mistake, as honest as it may have been, and should have had the balls to right it there and then.
I would not write off the APA over an issue like this.
It could happen in any situation where money is being collected down the chain and being funneled back up.
