Congrats to them, but are they members of the forum? Just curious as you said "our" very own. Either way, great accomplishment!

Nope. At least not as far as I know!

They do play out of my little room here in Central Florida though.

Over the last two years we have had a USA pool league national championship team, a USA Pool League national second place team, a USA pool league individual 8 Ball national champion, a USA pool league individual national nine ball champion, and now the APA eight ball champions.

Not too shabby!

Our group of guys and girls travel pretty well.

Pretty cool. That George Saunders guy can play a little. Nice guy also

Yep. George is a great guy. Greg Pugh gets around the table pretty well too.

Strong room! Congrats to all.

Normal team.

The lower rated players really pulled it together this week! Just a lot of hard work and heart.

I don't play APA, but have to say, that's a long, hard row to hoe.

Two super-7’s on the same team keep it from being “that” normal for an APA team (2x Fargo 650+ players with good robustness). It’s also pretty rare that all 8 players are registered in the Fargo system.

But still congrats to the winners!

But APA wise, 2 super 7’s who are 2:1 favorites to another team’s “normal” 7 and a low ranked player getting hot at the right time are going to be a tough out.

If our team played them straight up it would involve their Fargo 688 SL 7 playing our Fargo 522 SL 7, then me (our second best player as a 450-ish SL 5) trying my hand against the Fargo 668 SL-7. I’m a 4:1 underdog each rack so the 2 rack handicap advantage isn’t helping me much.

Yep.

One of the things I really dislike about the APA SL system.

It's absolute silliness to have a top cap that encompasses that large of a range of actual skill level.

Two 7’s and a bunch of three’s is a great way to build a team

Yep that is a tough setup to beat, but I think all leagues except for the BCA and USAPL run into the max handicap ceiling when going over 600 Fargo for a great player that can beat most other top rated players. My son is a 630 and is one of the top 10 players in the country in TAP league for wins as a 7. I'm a 550ish player and I am also a 7 half the time. Add in a bunch of "strong" players for their handicap, and it's a winning team. In my area there are a couple of teams that are always winning trips to Vegas, they just know how to play the handicap system very well and have a strong 7 well over the normal 7s.

Are you saying all their other players are 3s? If so and after some Fargo name searches, that team should have at least one strong 4 (Laci), one 6 (Gregory) and another solid 4 (Brad).

That's 7, 7, 6, 4, 4, 3, 3, 3. If the actual team SLs are 7, 7, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3 then they are, well we all know what could be said...

No didn’t mean that. I only know a few players on that team. We used to set our teams up in Baltimore like that. Two 7’s and a bunch of three’s

I wonder how many opponents tried to throw "off" (throwing their lowest players against the SL 7 players and try to make it up with with other matches in their favor)?
