Apologies to Qatar Billiards & Snooker Federation

I agree with you. English is spoken at the tournament site and should also be the only language in the chat.

One language, and vigilant moderators to permanently ban disrespectful posters.

JoeyA

I agree with the consensus here that the chat got really bad....
....I actually stopped reading it ..and I usually enjoy reading the chats....
....I've seen some great one-liners over the years.

My solution....
In backgammon tournaments, they establish an official language ....only that one can be
spoken at that tournament....( stops coaching)
Airport controllers must speak English around the world....for safety reasons.

Therefore let English be the official chat language.....
....with full time moderation....deleting and banning will clean it up.

I rarely post on chat...but I think a lot of us read it....I often get a kick out of it...
...but not this one.

Some don't enjoy the chats. I get that. (You can always just turn the chat off)

The chat rooms are a social media enjoyed by many people and it brings additional interest to our sport.

We just need to get rid of the disrespectful people.

JoeyA

Dump all chats, they are worthless, most of the time they have nothing to do with the match in progress. I watch streams for the pool, I could care less about who just signed on, what does that have to do with the game?

Even during the odd occasion I'm watching the chat instead of the full screen feed, I struggle to pick up more than 10% of the gibberish.

Those who get annoyed by it ought to go full screen.

I like the chat function...I like the fact that people from around the world can discuss
choices of shots and relative strengths of players....and maybe even get to like and
understand each other over the mutual fondness of this great game.

I was sweating a four handed casual game of snooker once in Europe....only one of them
was good....and they didn't speak English.....the good player got a skid on a shot and
looked with horror at me...'cause he knew I knew what happened....I threw up my hands
and we both started laughing....when he was leaving, he came over and shook my hand.

Billiards can be the game that draws people of all cultures together....
.....respect on the chats can be great for the game.

It is scary knowing how much you and I think alike. (ok, except for my signature blue font) :D

I agree, what I briefly saw in the chat before I stopped looking was disappointing. There was absolutely no call for that. I really appreciate what the QBSF did in proving the streams, I thoroughly enjoyed being able to watch the action and thank them for that!

Remember what happened with Ultimate 10-ball.

I love this game. There's no greater sound to me than the sequence of a cue hitting the cue ball, the cue ball hitting an object ball, object ball hitting the heart of the pocket. I'll gladly chase balls around the table for hours, whether I'm working on drills or just running out. I love seeing myself and others around me improve. I enjoy sharing the table with people who have the same enthusiasm and respect for the game and sport. But there seems to be a large contingent of people in the pool world who are just bent on ruining it for others. Especially on here, there's no shortage of that. It's definitely a regular occurrence for me to question why I love this game, and it's people that always make me say that. This week especially. The reason pool isn't on television or has more recognition is because of the people who play it, and especially the fans of the pro game. We are our game's worst enemy.

Apology- thats funny. They could take their free stream and stick it where the sun don't shine as far as I'm concerned! USA love it or leave it!

As long as I've been around Pool, there have been "knockers," so this is nothing new to me.

Yes- APOLOGY.

Poolhallbanger:

This thread has nothing to do with patriotism or loving America.

It is about respect for people who contribute to our beloved sport.

I won't admonish you for having a love for America because you won't find many people anywhere who have loved America as I have.

But I will say that until all Americans look around this shrinking world we live in and realize that there are good people in places all over the world and that they deserve respect, our position in the world will continue to take errant turns.

The host country of this great event is Qatar and that country has shown great compassion for our citizens, while others didn't. The fact that they love pool is over the moon in my opinion.

You make some great points Keith!

The problem with trying to ban just the clowns from the chat is most of them are technically competent internet trolls who get banned, scramble their IP address and log back in. Solution is a bunch of mods with ban hammers in real time.

Qatar doesn't understand how disrespectful the rest of the world can be. Over there, trolls get their fingers chopped off.

Full screen avoids the chat. At this level though now in streaming disconnections will bring on frustrations. No excuse for either even if free. Lots of good info comes across the chats. As in life avoid what one doesn't like. I imagine future will bring better chat filters.

You don't have as much chatroom crap on the PPV's. Maybe free streams should charge a few bucks for the chat, or have ne chat. No chat would be my vote. Johnnyt

Now that's a unique thought.
