Aramith Pro Cup vs Aramith Tournament

The tournaments sets are what we use in all Pro Events. We also use the Pro Cup Cue Balls that are made the exact same as the balls. The top players love them.

The cue is supposed to be the same size and weight as the object balls. This does make the cue ball feel a little heavy since most of of have played with the red circle for years which is a little lighter.

This has been my experience also. I did weigh the Tournament CB, a measle CB, and a new Cyclop single dot CB and they were all 170 grams on the money.

However, their performance is not the same. I cannot get the hang of the Tournament CB, and I have given it more than a fair amount of time to adjust. It just plays unnaturally. However, it is not due to being heavier than other CBs.

I feel that it is the finish on the ball. Although the Duramith finish is great for reducing wear on the OBs, its design is intended to reduce friction (which also is supposed to cut down on those little white burn marks on the cloth). Since the Duramith finish is also on the Tournament CB, the friction reducing finish makes the ball difficult to draw (the CB doesn't "grip" the cloth properly) and also influences the contact betweeen the CB and OBs adversely.

Aside from that issue, I think the Tournaments are great. Pair them with a measle CB and you have a playing set that is nonpareil.

I have drawn a full table with the Tournament CB. I have no idea WTF you are talking about.

Clipped.

Weighed my when I got them almost 2 years ago. I had the Measle ball already for probably a couple years prior. While mine were not 170 grams exactly, they were in tolerance.

I love the set; love the look. Usually play with the Measle.

My Tournament set is slightly heavier than my Super Pro or Centennial set AND the cueball is slightly heavier than the other balls. The Tournament set DOES play heavier. I did weigh all of my ball sets and the cueballs and additional cueballs I have. I also bought an another additional new measel ball for my Super Pro set that fortunately matched the weight of the balls in the set. I HATE cueballs that are notably lighter than the rest of the balls. The Chinese red circle cue balls are famous for this. All in all I like the Centennial set the best.
