does anyone have any reason from experience why the tournament balls are worth $50-60 more than the pros. Second, which would you buy? super pros with measles cue, cleaner liquid and cloth and the jim rempe training ball and book for $175, centennials for $205, or the tourn for $215? If anyone knows of any better price I would like to know.

The only difference between the Aramith Pro sets and the Tournament sets are the color of the balls. The Tournament set has ball that are more clearly seen on TV, in fact I personally do not like them at all because of the color's.

The best set of balls are Centennials, these are also made by Aramith for Brunswick. These are perfect in all respects from weight, to diameter and I can not prove it, but I think they are made out of a higher grade material, because they also wear like no other balls I have ever seen. I own a pool room, and I have used all the balls in question, if you can afford them buy the Centennials.

These balls are great, I just got a set the other day and have about 15-20 hours of play on them. They play ALOT better than the other Aramith balls, they also seem harder, there are a few micro scratches on them, they are still to clean to polish, I have a feeling they will be harder to polish than Centennials or Armith balls TV or not TV, balls. These are a whole different product than any balls I have ever seen. Sooner than later they will be popping up everywhere, they are worth the $$$.

the TV colored balls was a scam from day one.

I have been a Centennial guy for 25 years, I have 4 brand new sets of centennials(I bought a 6 a few years back) so when they get a bit of wear-about once a year I switch them out. I like these balls better. SVB is here and we played with them today-he likes them alot, better than the Aramith.

I have a set of Aramith Tournament balls and the 4 ball is not pink like the Aramith Pro TV set balls. It also claims on the box that they are made of a new Duramith resin technology that lasts up to 8 times longer.

Assuming you are correct, I fell for the hype and got hosed?

I have a set of the IPT balls, I believe they are equal to the Super-Pros. I also have Centennials and I like them both. Can't go wrong with either one.

I think this is what happened. The IPT balls were returned back to Saluc, then sat in a warehouse that had a glass roof. The balls baked under the hot sun for two years (aka secret vitrification process).

Allen Hopkins called up and said I need 150 sets, and the rest is SBE 2010 history. What happens in Valley Forge stays in Valley Forge.

Ah someone to validate me. When I saw these Aramith Tourney balls at the SBE, I was like...."Why the hell are they using IPT balls?!?!??"

To me, they look JUST like the IPT balls.

I am also a Centennial man, around 10 years ago I purchased 10 sets of Centennial that were made in the early 1970's Brand new in the box. I have three tables in my room where I put a set out for the players. The rest I still have untouched I would never sell them for anything.

Thanks for the information

Nothing on the Saluc website clearly states the Tournament Balls are made of a different material, so the only thing I know for sure is that the graphics are different.

For the Tournament set it says "...Realized in Super Aramith PRO resin incorporating the DuramithTM Technology." It is basically saying that it has the same resin as the Super Aramith Pro. It does not say that this "Duramith" technology is only in the tournament balls.

Also, for the Super Aramith Pro set the website continues to state that this set has "The highest end phenolic resin available, designed in our laboratories." Given that statement, how can the tournament set be any better?

I think they look pretty cool though. Still like the looks of the Cents best.

The new Duramith is different from any other Aramith ball to date. I spent about 2 weeks looking into it before I went for the Super Aramith Pro balls instead of the Duramith.

I HATE the way the new tournament balls look and even posted a thread about a while back.

I just wish that aramith would make those same balls except with the look of the aramith tv set.

"Realized in Super Aramith PRO resin incorporating the DuramithTM Technology. "

As a Chemical Engineer specializing in Plastics (certified in Polynesia) I can tell you that Duramith is a specialized material that undergoes a pretty severe process.

The balls are placed in a smaller version of the Hadron Collider. The balls are pelted with Chucknorium 998 (the toughest element in the universe). Once each ball absorbs one atom, they are taken to a vibrator to move the aton to the center of the ball.

If a single ball accidentally absorbs 2 atoms it creates a gravitational pull large enough to suck in all the other balls of the batch and the process must start all over.

The rest is trade secret, PM me if you would like more detail.

I can't believe you left out what they do with antimatter. Don't give everything away though. Just know that the tournament balls technically have 1 living cell in the core of the ball. The duramith is actually a coating that prevents mitosis yet preserves the genome of the tournament ball for genetic synthesis. If you place two balls together and rub them together vigorously they will scream at you in pain. All of these balls are asexual life forms.

I have been playing with the tournament balls today and they are better than both Centennial and Aramith Super Pro, both normal and Tv edition. I have them all in my poolhall and shop.

It says on the IPT site that their balls are made from phenolic resin, and they are not the same.

I just receive a set of these aramith tournament balls. All I can say is believe they hype!

Duramith Aramiths

I bought a set of the Duramiths and now use them as my default balls. I have Centennials and the Super Aramith Pros as well in case anybody displays a preference in my basement. The Duramiths definitely leave less of a white mark on the cloth when breaking rotation games. Fatboy commented they don't seem to draw as well. This makes sense because of the composition of the balls. I concur with his observation.

Holy moley, thanks for the correction. As a Plastic Chemical Engineer, I rarely deal with organics. I appreciate the help!
