Archer and Strickland on Tour

Johnny and Earl were in Decatur, IL last Sunday and Monday. Sunday evening they put on a seminar. After that they will sign some autographs and answer a few questions.
On Monday, they put on a 4 hour school for up to 12 people. 2 hours with Johnny and 2 hours with Earl.
It was a great time I feel that the $200 was worth it. Earl gets a lot of talk about his attitude but really he is not that bad once you get to know him. He is definitely assertive that's for sure. Johnny is a smooth kind character. You could tell that they both didn't want to stop teaching. They are in to the game and you can see in there eyes. I highly recommend this opportunity to anyone you wants to up the game a little bit.
I think they'll be in Des Moines, Iowa next. Omaha, Nebaraska next.

Earl Strickland and his counterparts did make the newspaper in recent times, an article from November 15, 2008: http://www.journaltimes.com/articles/2008/11/15/local_news/doc491fb26b7db08367598932.txt

Here's a snippet: The men are in the midst of a Midwest tour of local pool halls to demonstrate their skills and to give pointers in a prestigious "pool school" -- two hours of instruction at the cost of $200. The school was limited to 12 students so that Strickland and Archer could provide detailed, individual instruction. J.R. Buhs, owner of the pool hall, said he had a man offer him twice the amount of the class fee Saturday, but had to turn him away because of the enrollment limit.

The current tour marks the third time Archer and Strickland have gone on the road.

I wonder if Earl colors his hair. He's 47 years old now, and he still has no gray!

I heard they were stopping in Davenport to sleep Monday night. A lot of people got excited about seeing them in the local pool hall, but they must have been running behind and couldn't stop in. :(

They were in Des Moines yesterday and today. Last night they put on a good show at Big Dog Billiards with trick shots, exhibitions etc. Definitely worth the price!

I just got back an hour ago from the lessons here at Big Dog's, Des Moines.

Note in that photo of Earl is the thingy on his arm. He said it is a weight that helps him stay down. He had one of the students try it out. He had a few other gadgets attached to his body, too. Plus his cue was quite the deal.

Well worth $200, no doubt, for anyone who wants to get inside the heads of two greats. I have much to contemplate and practice.

Earl has passion. Johnny is a sweetheart.

Well the rumor is that archer will be at White Diamond Billiards in lafayette la for the tournament saturday nov 23rd. but that is just what we hear. would make a nice tournament.

I was in Des Moines too. The show was good and the pool school was great. I had a good time and would recommend the event to anyone, no matter what your skill level. It's worth the price just to have some one-on-one with these two LEGENDS.

Johnny is smooth as silk and tries to emphasize the fundamentals and Earl can put some 'stuff' on that cue ball which he gives you some advise on how you can do that as well. But as in any physical training, it take practice, practice and more practice.

As I mentioned before, I would recommend this event to anyone. It's a really good time.

Did you see towards the end when Tom, obviously drunk, tripped on his case and fell down on the floor? It was right next to the table where Earl was relentlessly practicing his hard, side-spin, table-length shots. Everyone gasped, then laughed when Tom was OK, but Earl, within two feet of the event, didn't blink an eye or quit shooting.

Now THAT is passion and commitment! I'd love to have THAT....can it be bought or created?

Got to meet Archer, Strickland, and Mark in Omaha. Very nice guys and I also went throught their pool school. Learned some fundamentals on stroke and bridges and my game is going to change for the better now. Also got to meet fellow Azer Pocketwolf. I knew he was an AZer cause he had a Murrell Sneaky, lol.

Overall, it was a great time, I'd recommend it to all pool enthusiasts. Thanks Earl and Johnny!

I agree with q-street, it was a great experience. The class was short on turn out, so johnny played race to 3 with us in the game of our choice-NICE. Also, i made a 180 in my thoughts about earl. He was awesome in this environment. He worked with us on about 5 different bridges, and wouldn't stop until we got it right. My hand still hurts from the first bridge! Johnny was great as well, he fixed a flaw in my stroke in a matter of minutes. I can't wait to do it again, well worth the coin.

Tom tripping was an absolute classic. That was a great way to end the night. I am still impressed how Johnny playing a race to 6 against Jason Chance, calmly snapped the nine in the first game and broke and ran out easily in the second. I unfortunately didn't get a chance to have either sign something at the end of the night, but a couple of mini videos on my phone are pretty good. I definitely won't forget that night.

Steve, for some reason my Verizon LG phone will not let me forward it to email. It says "Cannot support High Resolution (320 X 240) video message". I am bummed because I have other friends who have requested this. They did film this, so I do not know if a copy is available from their website, or you tube etc...but that would be worth checking out.

Thank you all for your support and positive feedback. Obviously we can't do these tours without the help and support from the pool and billiards communities in the areas we travel.
I have began to find that pool Room owners, League Operators and pool enthusiasts all over the country now know what we are doing and are happy when I call them. When we first started the Legends and Champions Pool Tour people thought I was a prank caller and say things like "Yeah right, Johnny Archer and Earl Strickland are coming to Sturtevant" Sturtevant was just an example of the small towns.

Anyway, I would like to thank everyone who came to see one of our exhibitions or attended one of our pool schools as we can't do it withoput you. I also want to thank all the pool rooms and their management and owners, League Operators and sponsors. We had a great time in the Mid West even through the freezing cold weather we had alot of fun and met some really great people on the way.
