I believe in Toledo at one of the glass city opens. Not sure what year, maybe early 90's.

That may be correct. The reason I ask is that a buddy purchased 3 diamond tables up there last week. We drove all night thursday to pick them up. One of the tables is signed by Johnny "13 Racks" and Francisco. The part that confuses me is under Francisco's name it says "winner".

Did Bustamante actually come back and beat him??? And how much were they playing for???

I think Francisco won the first set and Johnny ran out the second set.. After Archer runs the set out Francisco goes up to him and ask him to double the bet.. Johnny refuses.. And Franciso beats him the next set and Archer quits.. =) It went something like that..

I bought one of those Diamonds about a month ago, good deal. I dropped all the wood off at the Diamond factory this week to get it refinished. Did you guys purchase the Archer/Bustamante table? It was pretty cool to see the table that such a famous match took place on.

Thats an awesome story - I only with that I would have waited a few weeks to for to Kentucy so I could have played on that table.

I was there for that tournament all weekend. We stayed up late the night before, and that particular night (think it was Saturday) there wasn't much action in the room, so we went to bed around 11 or 12. I think the match took place in the wee hours, and we missed the whole thing. Woke up to hear all the stories and felt like woosies for going to bed...

It was in the early 90's (probably 91 - 93), was my second trip there. At the time I heard they were playing for $4000, Johnny broke and ran 13, Francisco upped the bet to $6000, Johnny ran the first 2 of the next set (making 15 total) but Francisco won and ultimately came out ahead. I've seen another story I think where the amounts were constant (2 - 3K), but either way it definitely happened and was quite a feat. Still regret not seeing it... :(

haddix billiards?!

is haddix billiards the one with the huge(i mean REALLY HUGE) built in wall cabinet behind the first table(from the front of the place) and the grill right in with the pool room? or is it the one across the street behind the other restuarant? have they redone the bathroom/urinal? hopefully yes. just a question- no further details! i used to shoot there when i went through town. two years at hazel green academy as well- larry brown, melissa morris's, david buchanan, bill price, etc class-'71. by the way the place with the big case had great soup beans and cornbread!

No Woody it is not the same place. Haddix's is through town on the right where Haddix grocery used to be. You are speaking of Campbell's.

Campbell's is barely surviving at the moment. Rumor has it that has soon as the owner gets his disability the doors are closed.

Oh yeah, that bar with the gigantic mirror is still there. I don't know how many cueballs I have seen hit that and think it would break. The glass is over 1/4 inch thick. But it is still intact after all these years.

You should stop by sometime.
