Are Bad Deals the Norm for Forums?

I've had well over 100 deals on AZ, many before Itrader.
Other than a trade with the criminal Brian Kozy (BEWARE) when I had to get the cops involved to get my cue back,
and my first trade that happened to be with a well known whack-job, I haven't had any other problems.
The whack-job deal and the BB Kozy deal happened because I didn't do any research.
In both cases, a little forum search would of revealed what I needed to know.
Nowdays I check people out.
The whack-job actually pissed me off more than the criminal, so a little research will at least let you know if the guy is nutz...

Most deals go smoothly .

The key is good communication, ask lots of questions, get it in writing, use paypal ,a credit card, or an escrow service.

Be clear about what your expectations of an item your purchasing are.

If your selling be overly descriptive about any sort of damage , dents, nicks dings scratches, warpage , taper roll or whatever.

By following this things have been mostly trouble free for me here.

One bad deal is too many but the idea that we would only see one or two a year is living in fantasy land.

I've done some deals here that I was quite nervous about and they all turned out fine. I've done a couple that I was sure were going to be just fine that ended up being a big pain in the rump.

After the rip-offs with Hangemhigh, Chadzillion and others it is clear you have to watch your ass on these transactions.

A new member needs to earn a good rep....I did as did many others.

An international transaction requires Western Union if I'm sending an item or if I'm receiving it....I get it, inspect it and then pay unless the person has an impeccable reputation.

There are members here that I have sent something without payment and whom I have received something from before I pay because we have a great buyer/seller relationship. Those relationship were built through EARNING mutual trust. Some of the newer members here just cant seem to wrap their heads around that part.

For me I guess it all comes down to using common sense and listening to that little guy in your head that says "do it" or "dont do it" and take the precautions that you need to be it a USPS money order, Western Union, getting the item before paying with a new member, shipping to a confirmed paypal address and getting a direct signature if needed, escrow.....ect....just make sure you cover your ass and listen to your instincts.

I've bought 4 cues from 2 cuemakers, and just had my first sale experience yesterday. Have some cues on order with another cuemaker now. All of them were smooth and I am very pleased with the way they went. I was definitely cautious with some of the horror stories on here but I have no complaints. All of my dealings have been in new cues and it's hard to misrepresent a new cue. I think most bad transactions are from used cues that people have a difference of opinion on condition, which I understand as my great condition may be different than yours. Honesty is the key to a good transaction and as long as people are honest things should go well. Not everyone is honest all the time so you have to be careful but like others have said I think the majority of people are and the majority of deals are positive. Most people have 100% positive itrader which leads me to believe most deals are good. We just hear about the bad ones more then we do the good ones.

As Gomer Pyle would say "GOLLY", but the truth is we most hear about the BAD like the NEWS, as good thing are just too ordinary to yack about.

These are the only types of people I would do business with-if I had a crystal ball. HONEST people.
Too many people value money over integrity. ( and don't give me that shite about if times weren't tough some people wouldn't have done the things the do-good character does not bend it's personal morality during hard times-it simply cannot-the truth is not subjective to material gain. )
I've had two flops recently with cue purchases, myself, though neither on
these forums ( I do look forward to my first here! ).
On one, the good of the cue over weighed the bad so I just 'ate it' and the other was just too misrepresented and expensive to let slide so I sent it back and pray my CC will be credited.
The CC is my preferred method of sight unseen buying as you at least have another avenue of recovery if the deal goes south.

I don't believe that I bought any chalk from Slim, that is unless he has more than one user name on AZ.

25 pieces of chalk X 9 = $225
$20 shipping
$14 USD exchange rate which was paid.
$259.00

Whoever I paid got paid in US funds. I made a mistake and originally sent in Canadian funds. I thought Canadian was on par
and read it wrong. The chalk wasn't sent until the $14 USD was paid to cover the exchange rate at the time.

Chalk was garbage. Had it not have been, I would have kept it. Sent back at my expense. $32 Canadian.
No one got a deal of a life time. I got hooped large and like I said, am now in line for the AZ Stupidity Award of the year.

Feel free to make a thread.

Blue Hog Rider,

the deal for that chalk was for $348 and you know it. I sent you the chalk and I'm still waiting for my last $100. You don't send me my $100 right now I'm gonna go public with this issue. You got the deal of a lifetime when I sold you that chalk. I've had enough. You owe me. Send me mo' money now!!!

I didnt take it as being Facetious yours words sounded real to me.
I was getting ready to react to your Facetious words .

Might think of editing this. it came out wrong.

Ha, ya got me.
I was wondering where that came from.
No problem anyway, I can take a bit of ribbing any day just as good as I can hand it out.

Funny thing is, I just got a notice saying that the package was undeliverable. It was sent Canada Post and I guess that USPS handled the International part of it.

USPS sent a notice that they are holding onto the package, I owe them money for storage and chances of me getting the money back or the chalk are pretty slim.

Pay Pal won't release the funds unless the package was delivered.

I guess the joke is on me.

Other than that, I have had nothing but good experiences on AZ buying, trading and selling a little.

This was my first negative one so I don't feel bad other than I could have used the chalk money for a down payment on a cue that I wanted.

I did consider making a warning thread just in case these 25 pieces come up for sale again in the sale forum.
I got jizzed so no need for anyone else to get the same.
