Are pool cue canes a good investment?

Hey everybody, I'm considering purchasing a pool cue cane. From what I was told, these are not good playing cues because of the wood used for the shafts. Would it be wise to purchase one of these pool cue canes and have a quality shaft made for it? I really would like to hear your opinions!!!!!

The cues are made from Ramon wood in almost all cases, the adhesives are low quality, the materials are low quality, and the craftsmanship is poor quality which means that they are simply junk, at least all I have ever seen.

If you must have one contact a skilled Custom cue maker and see if they will build you one, it most likely will not be cheap, but it will at least be a quality piece and should last.

I would certainly think one might come in handy if a guy failed to pay off his gambling debt and Bruno and the boys took him outside and broke both his legs.

I have one I bought for $5.00 at a garage sale a few years ago from an older gentleman who said he got it in Japan during his service in the Korean War...

It's kind of junky, but two things (apart from the price) attracted me to it...

Number one, it has an original ivory ferrule... Weird...

And secondly, it is hand carved and painted... Not all that well, but not machine perfect...

I admit I have never even hit a single ball with it, but it's age, the ivory ferrule and the hand carved handle made it worth more than $5.00 to me...

Sorry, but in my opinion cane cues are not good shooting cues and for that matter are not even good canes:p. Having stated this it doesn't mean that they don't have a place in a collection. I have several of these curiosities in mine:smile:. I also have one with a ivory ferrule it set me back $16.00. I have seen a few that were very well made and those may have a little investment value.
