Are the old Adam cues from the 70's and 80's nice players?

whether a cue is ten bucks or ten thousand. if it hits well for you it is a great playing cue. and if it doesn't it ain't worth s--t as one.
only a wall hanger.

better makers tended to have better hitting and longer lasting cues that didn't warp.

production cues made of wood are rarely using very well aged wood.

This question is for those who have played with any of the vintage Adam cues from the 70's and 80's?

Here is a link to the cue I am really interested in.

Did you, or do you like the way they play?

Would you use one as your daily player?

Can you compare any other cues that they hit similar to, or do they have a unique type of hit?

Do they hit anything like the Helmstetter cues? I am guessing not, because they have a different joint pin, and probably weighted differently too. Would the hit be similar at all to the Adam Balabushka line of cues?

The one I am looking at has a piloted joint (maybe 5/16x14, but not sure).

Were these good quality cues, compared to the quality of the cues that Adam Japan made in the 90's for example?

Anyways, thanks for any opinions about the playability of these cues.
One of my first real cues was an Adam’s, learned a lot while playing with that cue, it had a nice solid hit.

Somebody please tell Adam to make cues again, like they used to.
Huh?? They never stopped. They still make cues in Japan that are very well made. The Kenbu line and the super-grade Musashi's are really nice. This place is their US dist: https://adam-ny.com/product-category/cue/ Their Mugen line is made at same factory as Predator,Lucasi and are pretty nice as well. https://www.adam-japan.com/model/mugen/ A lil more on the current ADAM status: https://forums.azbilliards.com/threads/adam-cues-in-u-s.563356/

I got one of the last few Adam un-branded George Balabushka cues from the Japan factory before they quit making them.

It plays pretty sporty with the Peter Tascarella shaft that I got for it.

For those who don't know cues, it is the black ebony cue witth the diamond inlays.

(Post edited for those wondering why there are pieces of tape on the forearms of the cues. I was comparing the balance points between the cues one day.)

Great looking cues. I like them all, but the top one really caught my attention...

The top cue was the first custom cue I ever bought back in 1973.

It is an A. E. Schmidt made in their factory by Lloyd Bennett.

The history of the cue is here.

the two balabushka looking ones have the nostalgia look i go for.
the plain one is the number 4 in original gene balmers catalog. i had him make those for me without the joinmt rings so he put them in his catalog to sell for himself.

The plain Balabushka-looking cue is this one.

I had it made to look like an original Titlist conversion made by Balabushka. The bottom cue in the photo below is a real Balabushka and the one I copied from. I added the silver rings in the joint for the one I had made.

i shot some pool sometimes with him. he played okay. few know that. i beat some guy out of a hundred or so in one pocket so i gave it to him. i asked him for a cue he said ok. soon after i got what he made.
