Are there any places in NC with billiard tables?

Hey Brandon, just in case you don't see it in the other thread, New York Billiards has 3 5x10 billiards tables.

You can also always search for places with carom tables on the USBA website USBA.net

The USBA website shows a table at Ken Schapira--a private table, so you have to call first 828-258-3900.

What!? I didn't know that... thanks again David. I actually rode around looking for it the other day because I knew it was somewhere close to Browns but I couldn't find it. I'm gonna have to mapquest it and check that place out.

As you leave Brown's turn left at Spring Forest. Turn right at the next shopping center (before you get to the light). It's a HUGE room, and the first thing you'll see when you walk in the door is those big, beautiful, full-size snooker tables. The billiard tables are near the back left of the room, as you face from the door.

Here's a link to a google map: http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF-...-78599360,5570736542569495337&li=lmd&z=14&t=m

It's like 1/4 mile from Brown's.

Enjoy,

Thanks man, I'm going up there today. I tried to give you some rep but it said I needed to spread some around before giving you rep again. Hope that shoulder's getting better, you need to get out and hit some balls soon.

If anyone goes by New York Billiards, please get some info for the USBA list of rooms with carom tables. Besides address and phone number, please try to get the name of a contact, email if any, number and type of tables, tournaments, if any, and any other info that prospective players might be interested in.

See http://www.usba.net/USBABilliardRoomsHome.asp for example or to find a room. Please send the info to me or to the USBA Secretary, JimShovak@aol.com.

The list of rooms can't be maintained without the help of volunteers.

Thanks,

Bob Jewett

Anyone know of any? Thanks....
I also see

Nhuy Billiards
4030 Capital Blvd, Raleigh, NC
(919) 878-5455

which I'm guessing will have carom tables, but they might not speak much English.

Thanks Bob, I'll have to check that one out too.

I went by Brown's today but they only had 1 carom table and it wasn't a 5x10, it was only around 9 or possibly a big 8... I dunno, it was my first time seeing a small billiard table like that...(I think there is a 4-ball korean billiard game or something you play on those). There was also an empty spot with a light hanging over it where it looked like another billiard table might have been but it's gone now...

The snooker tables were awesome though... I hit some balls on one for around an hour and it played great. I wonder how much one of those bohemuth's costs... they were Wilhelmenas I believe..

Hopefully they will have a 5x10 at that place you mentioned Bob... I miss playing billiards every now and then.

3 cushion in nc

sad news:
there was one in lenoir at friendly billiards; it recently closed. don't know what happened to the table/s.
dixie's in wilkesboro had one about three years ago. i drove up from hickory; asked for balls for the table; they did not know what i was asking for. i did not enlighten them. another place here in hickory had some; closed. is there a pattern?

I haven't been to NY Billiards since last summer or so - guess they got rid of the billiards tables. Sorry about that; it never crossed my mind that they would get rid of them. NY has a lot of Asian players (I guess cause the owner is Asian), and every time I went in there (which was admittedly not often), the billiards tables were getting plenty of use.

Now that I think about it, I heard from someone about a year ago that they were looking to sell the snooker tables, so maybe they liquidated the billiards tables. However, I don't remember there being a small one - the one I played on was full-sized and heated. BTW, the asking price I heard for the snooker tables was $30k, but I don't know if that was each or for both....

I do not plan on going to NY Billiards any time soon , but they do have billiards tables, snooker tables and pool tables. It is very upscale and they are very cordial there.
