Mike and I played at our little hangout, races to 2, 8ball on the 8 footers. Mike 'let' me win (if you don't call 4 and 5 railers on the 8 to let me shoot, then he didn't let me win), and we split 1st and 2nd. Nice way to end the New Year. The tournament ended at midnight and we toasted with champagne with some of our good friends. Neither of us overdid it. Called both my babies to tell them I love them. My son is in Canada and my daughter stayed home to celebrate with her boyfriend.
Now I am sipping hot cider and then we are going to a breakfast buffet (resolution to lose weight starts tomorrow, lol) before going to another tournament on 9footers, with IPT rules.
The last week of 2005 ended on a sad note for us because Mike's sister just died, a good friend had a radical mastectomy, and another's son got shot in the head and is on life support. He was out hunting in Canada with a 12-year old Native American that was born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and ADD, and he had taken under his wing. The 12-yr. old's gun accidentally discharged and the bullet went into Bob's son's head just below the ear. The kid drove the pickup 5 miles before crashing into a tree (he didn't know how to drive!) and then ran another 5 miles before getting help. He is on life support, but has brain activity - when a nurse instructed him to squeeze her hand if he understood, he squeezed so hard she yelped! Miracles do happen and I am praying hard for everyone.
Also, 2 cars owned by my son's girlfriend and her brother were vandalized outside our house at 3 or 4 in the morning - one got stolen and was found later stripped, and the other had a kill switch installed, otherwise it would have been stolen too. But the ignition was damaged. My son caught the guy in the act on the 2nd one, he and his girlfriend chased him up the street, and he turned around and hit Nikki.
Our hopes for 2006 are for a healthy happy year. Goals are for Mike to make top 40 and me to finish top 100 in the IPT, and for me to lose 10 pounds. (Lofty goals, I know
)
Here is another cute little wish for a Happy, prosperous New Year for all AZBers!
