Are you superstitious when you go out to play pool in a tournament, or to gamble. If you are what are you personally superstitious about? superstitions like:

Will not play on blue cloth.

Will only Play on Valley Bar Boxes.

Pre event meals is always.
 
I don't play in sandals ever, when i'm playing i can't have my keys or phone in my pockets. I always wear a hat. I don't have a meal i eat all the time but I def can't play while i'm hungry. Before my match, I go wash my hands and bring back a damp paper towel to clean my shaft.

Can't really think of anything else.
 
I used to be stuperstitious...

Things like...

Had to make the first shot I took else I had to unscrew and re-srew my cue...

Had to make the last shot I took before putting my cue away...else I played bad the next time I played

Had ceratain shirts that I felt made me play better.

Had to have my cues and shafts in certain slots in the case.

Then I realized that being stuperstitious was unlucky....so I stopped...;)
 
Our league matches start at 4pm, so I have to have lunch which is always something light italian or asian. No traditional german food as it's too heavy.
Official single tournaments start at 10am, so just breakfast at home. Last year was so busy that I didn't have time to eat and played until 4:45pm
Worked well, so I'll continue not to eat during tournaments as I tend to get tired then, may be a candy bar or so if I get hungry, but no real lunch

I always pack my cues away after a match even if it was the first half match of the league days or if I'm still in the tournament.
Many poolhalls here try to squeeze as many tables as possible into the room so the risk somebody trips over my case is too big and I don't want to see my shaft breaking off

When I had 2 or 3 bad league matches consecutively I tend to wear a 7,62mm NATO cartridge as a necklace (the dog tag chain holds it) as well as a huge ring on my bridge hand:cool:

when and how do you keep coming up with all this stuff? U ask more ? then my son lol

Have a good acquaintance who played in the NFL, has a Super Bowl Ring, and was very superstitious when he was an active NFL Player.

Did he get the ring because he was superstitious, or lucky, or on the right team at the time.
 
I don't know if you'd call it superstitious, but when I am playing in my zone and all of a sudden, something distracts me, I have to back up, turn around, take a deep breath and refocus. Otherwise, there is no way I will make that next ball, because the disruption has messed with my head.
 
Unsure whether or not this is true, but I heard Rafael Martinez used to shave one of his eye brows.

I know a couple of unnamed players that will wear the same exact clothes the next day in a tournament if they did well the first day. One guy wears the same socks in EVERY tournament:eek: .

I try not to depend or believe in supersticians or rolls myself although I do realize that stuff happens.
 
No, I am not superstitious, at least about pool, thank the Gods for spell check!!
 
Personally, I feel that discussing my personal superstitions openly would demystify them, and make them less powerful.

Lets just say they are working, and are close and dear to me-for now.
 
I play best when I wear my "flaming 8-ball" boxers. :eek:

I wont have keys,phone or change in my pockets.I like to have my cue clean also.I do believe i am superstitious with some stuff,i mean if we are using coins and i want the right side and that guy wins the first game and takes the right side it will irk me alittle. :o
