Arizona players have you seen this cue?

This cue still hasn't been returned.

Hello,

A couple of weeks ago I made a deal with Jeff Woodring on this cue...

redwood_001.JPG

It was made from figured California redwood. There isn't another cue like it.

Jeff was an old friend and told me he needed a cue. We worked out a deal where he would pay me for it the following week and it never happened. He made a few excuses then stopped answering my calls, emails, and texts. I was worried about him until I called from another number and he picked up immediately. I realized at this point that I made a big mistake in how dealt with this person. I explained to Jeff that if something happened and he couldn't afford the cue now to please return it, he hasn't.

I do not make a lot of money building cues but it is how I support my family. Every cue I make is important to me both as a cue maker and a provider for my family.

Jeff Woodring owns a drywall contracting business and works all over the state. He lives in Phoenix but may be down in Tucson right now on a job.

I am now hoping that somehow I can get the cue returned. If someone spots the cue out there in a bar or pool hall to please give me a call or text at 602-625-1042. Jeff may have sold it or he may be out there still playing with it. I can offer a small reward for its return.

I appreciate any help my fellow AZers can provide.

Thank you,
Bryan Mordt

Bryan,

Sorry to see things like this..... and the word "freind"
is sometimes used too loosely. I will keep an eye out
but I don't get out much.

Personally, I would leave a voice message stating that
the authorities will be notified by a certain date if not
returned in perfect condition or paid in full, and follow
through. Call the police. JMO

Thanks for the support and getting the word out guys! Jerry, thanks for doing that.

I know its a long shot getting this cue back or paid for but I have to try.

A valuable lesson learned the hard way on this one. :frown:

Learning the hard way indeed. Sorry this happened to you Bryan.

I put myself in similar spots with a very select group of people, and
it has cost me money or a cue in the past aswell.

I still do it though, I refuse to believe more then an insignificant % of people
pull stunts like this.

The value of the cue isnt worth that aggervation my friend. Write it off as a lesson learned.

Sorry to here the bad news Bryan. I would do what azer ''grindz'' said. Call him let him a message & tell him the police will be called if the cue isn`t returned or the money payed in full by a certain date. Wish you the best sir.

Sorry in my eyes it is the principle, not the value.
I doubt the police can do anything.
You gave him the cue he didn't steal it. Plus there is nothing in writing.
Embarrasing him to h--- in front of his peers might be the only way to cause him to pay up. Good Luck

This cue is still missing.

Sorry to hear this Bryan! If I had all the money I was owed on cues or the cues I had stolen, or sold by Pro players who promised to play with a my cue or return it, I could retire. I know how it hurts, but I've had to change my ways of doing things!

I certainly could not retire on what I have lost on bad cue deals, but I could take a very nice vacation.

Stories like this are frequent on AZ. Maybe you can ask AZ to start offering services to protect buyers and sellers.

cue theft

If you mailed it USPS would that not be some kind of postal fraud.
I would check and see, those post office investigators are real good at their job.
Hope tis helps and may the pool gods lock up his arm while using that cue.

is he listed in any division for the BCAPL SW regional's next week in Scottsdale?
We should keep an Ieye out for it there.

Where does the guy hang out at? Would it be a bad idea if I see the cue to take it if it is just laying around or would you like me to just call you Bryan, either way let me know.

That was a bit of an exaggeration, I admit. But as you say I could definately take a month or two vacation in the Philippines! Maybe even as much as 6 months depending on where I stayed.
