Arragant Sellers and Paypal fees

To me, buying anything off the internet from private sellers is a crapshoot. I've been shafted from Ebay sellers. Facebook sellers trying to get hundreds more than a cues actual worth and then not even wanting to absorb the paypal fee. The only protection a buyer has. As good as some of these used cues look in the pics, they are used. They have been hit. Chalked and hit. Pay 1200 or 1400 for a Tim Scruggs Sneaky? Not me. They hit the same as most sneakies. Maybe not as well as some. And is it straight? Really?prolly but maybe not. Fortunately I've only been hurt on cheaper cues. Lesson learners and I've learned them.

Pointing out spelling errors is arrogant too.

Private sellers are going to sell things for what it is worth to them. It's their property and their prerogative. If you don't like the price move on.

Plus Why start a new thread about the same thing?
Pffft

I reckon cues to tools and cars. If it is used then its used and we can tell. If they don't have a return policy then don't buy. If they don't offer overnight shipping then don't buy. Nobody wants a cue to warp in transit.

Jan 21...
And now March 5th...
Same topic, different day.
Bored?
Explain how you've been "shafted" by eBay sellers?
Anything I have ever purchased off of eBay, even if the seller states no returns, I've been refunded on if it does not fit the sellers description.
It may take some back and forth with eBay but if it is legitimate they'll get it straight.
Arrogant sellers? Why are you even dealing with them?
If a seller is asking for FF, run don't walk, unless you know and trust them personally. That's why they call it "friends and family"

OK, you've learned your lesson. We're all happy for you. You don't have to purchase every cue you think is a good deal just so you can be disappointed and come here to complain about it.

The OP does have a point but he can choose not to buy. I think we live in a world where people think their stuff are worth far more than what the market is. Its sad because people are hoarding things and it drives up demand. The hoarders don't even know if they priced accordingly they will sell like hotcakes. Just bad business sense in today's society. A lot of e-commerce and selling online can afford anyone a business. The real trick is to push products as fast and as much as you can even with a small profit margin. The name of the game is to get stuff in and get it out.

Bag holding a cue or a pair of Air Jordans is detrimental to a "business".

I just try to support the cue maker by ordering from them. They've already made their money on a cue and the resellers are just passing them around.

There is what I call "whores" and that describes a cue that has been through many collections. I see cues elsewhere and here. Different owners.

I have one being built and an I give it another 3 months and I will put money down for another. If I work out my dates correctly I can have a new cue every year or year and a half. That's enough time to play and get bored before the next arrives.

That may be your perspective. However, if that were truly the case, these "businesses" would not survive.

People gripe about the price of a used Diamond pool table, but they still pay it... Why is that? Because the supply is low and the demand is high.

While you may not like the prices in today's market, there are plenty of people with money who will continue to purchase. If there weren't, the prices would drop.

Me too. I learned to put whiny trolls like you on perma-Ignore.

No one cares. Get over it.
Yup.

I have over 200 cues. Rarely sell. So I am a moderately experienced cue buyer.

You know what the best asset is, besides a thick wallet and some cue knowledge, if you are buying/collecting cues? I good attitude!

Example: I bought a cue that was "overpriced". They had it at $1,800 before I found the sale. When I found it, it was at $1,250. That went down to $800 before I contacted the seller. At that point we had a pleasant exchange for days. After several days of cordial relations I got the cue for a reasonable $600.

Example2: I landed a very valuable cue for $100. It was worth probably $2,500 on a good day, and $1,800 on a bad day. A solid $2,000 to $2,200 cue. A friend that gave me several nice cue deals (even a freebie) asked about the cue. We have never met in person, only online. He respects me, I respect him. I sold him the cue for$900.

If you want to whine about it, you might find some that will whine with you. But you might want to take an example from those that are more stable with adulting.

Adulting can be a struggle for some people. I usually say it's time to put on the big girl pants and deal with it.
