Great event at a great room. Seeing lots of friends and meeting old friends I haven't seen for a decade or more. I love Evelyn and Danny's Midwest Tour stops. Always friendly, lots of action, lots of players. And Shooters is a player's room through and through.

This is easily one of the top five places in the nation if you're a pool nut.

Call me if you want a case - they are selling fast - :-)

And for those sweating my one pocket journey, I crapped all over myself and played horrible except for two games in each match. One of them I was in complete control and played good one hole and won the game easily, the other one I had to start with an off angle cross corner that I drained, which left me a straight back off angle that I made which led to running three more and playing shape on a easy cross corner that I made to run 7 and out.

THEN

I broke SO BADLY that I missed the head ball and broke them like eight ball with four balls going to my opponent's pocket and he ran out from my break.

In my defense....I have no defense.....I stunk up the joint. I did manage to get a game off Mark Haddad in practice though in a 30 minute game after being down 5:0 in balls. That guy has a SMOOOOOOOOOTH stroke and he knows a lot of tricky shots.

So I went two and out - now it's time to match up a little.

It's easy to say it's a great room when you go there for a tourney and they make an exception to let non members play. But for traveler's, it sucks to go there and be turned away and to call and be told that you won't be allowed to play if you come down.

There are many places that I go that I'm only in town for one day and I can't know I'll be there ten days in advance.

You're right though, it IS a great room. The tables are nice, there are an assortment and types of tables for anyone's taste.

Also, the atmosphere during one of the tournaments is awesome for players.

I just wish there was a way to be able to play there at a moments notice for out of towners that was a sure thing.

After being turned away the first time I went there, I was reluctant to go back. I only went there when a tourney was going on after that and no one questioned me.

I think that is more the tournament director's call than the room's call. Andi I were not allowed to play in a tournament in Cambellsville but the TD told us we could play in the one the following night.

This particular room has many tournaments that are run by different folks.

We keep missing each other by a couple of days.

I just flew into New York out of St Louis and earlier in the week I was at KC...

No, what I'm referring to is that they are setup as a private club to allow smoking, since some law or another prevents them from otherwise allowing it, so when there isn't a tourney going on, you have to be a member to play or be sponsored by a member to play.

It takes ten days and $10 to become a member.

On a side note, are you going to Reno???

Jaden

I really miss shooters, I lived in Olathe for over 30 years and 3 years ago moved to Chattanooga. Thank you for the great pictures. I have never seen you at a shooters tournament, glad you made it. I love the old pool hall feel with all the pictures and such. Jeff Pena

Pool Mecca

Shooter's is a great room. One of the best in the country.

JB,

If you don't know Dan Tull introduce yourself to him. He is a great guy and likes to play himself. I think you guys are a close one pocket game. Dan doesn't play much as he keeps busy with multiple businesses. I almost made the drive out this weekend but couldn't swing it. Wish I would of.

Good Luck,
BD

Shooters may be the only room in the country left that i wanted to visit and so far have not.

Yuppers even with a cracked screen you are seeing it correctly... Looks as if her torso is covered in tattoos as well and might be a snake involved in the dance... Pretty cool when function meets art... I am sure whoever tooled the piece spent some serious time on it... Thumbs ups

As far as room owners go there is Terry Huelsman and Dan Tull - they are 1A and 1B.

Enjoy yourself JB.

1on1, you should have gone - picked me up on the way.

Yeah, I'd buy that case in a heartbeat but with my luck, I'd snag that ring and rip it off inside of a week. :sorry:

Shooters is a great pool hall. We used to drive down 2 times a year for the one pocket and 9 ball tournaments during the 90's. Great atmosphere, gambling and food. Good luck finding action and you make some fine looking cases.

Is Salazar there peddlin' cues?

No. Only Don Sherman and Doug Patrick.

Not going to Reno. I will get the lowdown on the membership thing. They probably play it real straight with strangers to avoid getting the license pulled. Plenty of shooter's members here though willing to sponsor a guest.

Will do. Dan and I have met but he is always real busy. I might get Will to match us up.
