The 2017 Atlantic Challenge Cup Team playing Europe in Austria in a few weeks. What a great opportunity and experience for them as they may well be the future of The Mosconi Cup team for the USA in four or five years. Players April Larson ,Sierra Reams, Manny Perez, Ricky Evans, Shane Wolford ,Nathan Childress and Captained by arguably the best record in Mosconi Cup history Johnny Archer. Lots of experience for the young players to draw off of during the week . What are your thoughts?

What a great opportunity for these young prodigies! Traveling to Austria with JA as Cap, mentor and chaperone? Who's wishes they could have had that chance?

Is there going to be a stream?

Great experience for the players. Fantastic of Johnny to take the time out of his life to be Captain. Love to see a stream as well...

April, maybe, Sierra no, Manny likely, Ricky maybe, Shane maybe, Nathan probably not. I have seen a few younger kids that will almost certainly make the Mosconi Cup team, one almost for sure in 7-8 years, Ivo, young kid from PA. I actually made it a point to stop by the room he plays out of in PA while there for SBE to chat about him with the people working there.

Pretty much none of the US kids under 18 can match the Euro team filled with people like Fedor Gorst, Maxim Dudanets (not sure he qualifies maybe too old), Kristina Tkach. Gorst beat Shaw in one pocket and Darrin in 10 ball in a single tournament, find a US junior that can come close to doing that.

Till US can get some actual pool programs in place with training full time from an early age we will be behind a lot of countries barring some lone freak like SVB popping up 4 more times LOL

I went last year, some amazing playing and only around 20 spectators. Alison Fisher, Johnny Archer and Dennis Hatch were there. And it's free! Go watch if possible and support these kids.

I think only the parents show up outside of a few stragglers, same thing for the Junior Worlds. I know a few parents and kids that went and they said there really was no audience.

I think Mosconi Cup should reserve/add a spot for a player from each Atlantic Cup team, as well as the US Amateur Champ and top European Champ.

Lol kind words but ivo is 13 his bday was yesterday.

This is about supporting and promoting Pool from a younger age and giving them encouragement from a young age to advance the future of pool.

Is the captain a paid slot, along with travel, hotel, food for one or two? Johnnyt

Without younger players pool has NO future. If it weren't for leagues it would be gone already. So IMO pool needs to find a way to combine league pool and the younger generation...JMO!!!!

We are here! Just started this year in California and hoping to get out across the country. It will take some time for us to catch up to those across the pond, but we will get there. Just need the support of the community behind the kids.

There has been a big youth program in N.E. for years, been sending several kids to the Junior World tournament for the past few years also, have had 2 on the team last 3 years just from our junior program. What has not happened though is a national billiard program or pro tour to support and train players at a high level. Doubt it will happen because every league will want it's own name on the thing. For example there is now an APA junior national tournament along with the BEF one. Imagine having 5 different minor league organizations in baseball.

That is a great analogy. You have so many different leagues and organizations trying to make up their own version of the rules. Until we can come together on these issues, the sport will suffer.
