Attack on Brian Gregg

Brian sent me an email pertaining to the attack on his character. I won't type it for you word for word, but his version is a little different than was printed here a few days ago.
Brian said he had drank a few beers and was just walking around taking in the action with no intention to play. 2 road players started to nag him about playing and he said he was happy just walking around watching everyone. He says they finally got to him and he told them he would play 1 game for what he had in his pocket, and laid his money down on the floor. They all of a sudden didn't have much to say about playing but lashed out verbally and started to curse him. He lashed back, and admits it was bad character for him to do so. He found the 2 guys the next day and apologized to them. They accepted, but did not apologize to him for the attack. He also states that his son only walked up to catch the last few seconds of the whole scene.
I've known Brian for a long time, and even though I've seen him woof a little trying to get matched up, I've never seen him get out of line or threaten anyone. Just don't sound right to me. Like I said, I wasn't there and don't know exactly what was said or done, but Brian is my friend and from his past actions, his story sounds more logical to me.

Great shooting Brian, keep knocking them in, just not at league next Tuesday. Sam

So what if Brian barked back at the other side who was woofing at him! I've seen some nasty match-up sessions when one side is so rude that nobody in their right mind would want to play them.

I heard Amar Kang got himself into a little trouble with his style of matching up at the DCC, and somebody, not sure who, knocked him out cold with one punch!

Matching-up is an art form, and when people exceed the threshold and become nasty, it's usually better to just leave that game alone. Imagine how they'll act if they lose!

That happened to a guy at DCC last year too. He was in the hall outside the tournament room barking at a guy about twice his size and guy repeatedly told him go away. I went in the main room and apparently just missed the guy getting his butt kicked.
When I first my my sponsor that puts me in the tournaments, he used to go with me occasionally for a weekend. The first few times someone tried to get some weight from me, he wanted to smack them. I just laughed at them and told them they were nuts for even asking when the match was close or they had a slight edge. You never know how someone will react to that woofing, so be prepared if you ask the wrong person. With all the people at DCC, I don't know why you would have to resort to too much woofing anyway, unless you're just trying to steal. I've seen Keith doing some pretty good hagling for matches thru the years, some good matchups and some not-so-good. Sam

That story is bogus. He came into the room, announced that he would play anyone a long rack of bank, and a game of the other players choice. noone really had anything to say, then this one short guy came up to brian and asked him if hed play troy frank nineball and no other game, and brian said no, ill play nine ball and a full rack. So the shorter guy sais nevermind, goes back to sitdown, and brian starts barking at him about how hes scared. the guy sitting is ignoring him, and just saying "whaterver" back to him, and then brian calls him a scared bitch atleast 3 - 4 times. Finally the shorter guy told brian to watch his mouth, and then brian offered to go outside with him for the 5k. and the rest of the story is in some other post. The dude had like 239048 beers in him, im sure he wouldnt act like that sober, but if youre going to drink that much, you should be able to handle it.

Pigi,
How true. The 2 sides are #1 = the truth; #2 = what you hear on the internet.

Right on, Williebetmore. I think you have hit the nail on the head!
