In the past week I purchased an early 1980's Gus cue that was refinished by Barry in or about October 2006. The cue is MINT, has 20 MOP inlays, a stainless steel piloted joint, 4 ebony points with 4 veneers each, 4 windows in the ebony butt sleeve with rare mitered box veneers (4), and two of the most beautiful rings in the butt sleeve and on either side of the joint that you will ever see. When Barry refinished the cue last year, he made a matching joint protector for the butt of the cue. The shafts are original and roll straight together and apart. In fact, for shafts that are approximately 25 years old, they roll near perfect.
Yesterday I took delivery of a 2005 Barry cue that has never been chalked and is MINT. The cue has 36 Ivory inlays, a piloted Ivory joint and an Ivory butt cap with "Szamboti" stamped therein. The cue also has a black lizard wrap and Ivory ferrules with Moori Medium tips.
I'm not posting photos of the cues in this thread because the cue market appears to be very weak right now and don't want to over-expose the cues in such a market, but will PM photos to any serious buyers. The Gus is $18,000.00 and the Barry is $10,500.00 delivered. Please PM me about these cues only if you have the cash to purchase one or both of the cues and are seriously looking to purchase Szamboti treasures.
