AZ Get-Together Poll

If we had an AZ Get-Together Tournament in the KS, OK, or TX area, would you go?

Fees????

Anyone got any suggestion on how much the entry fee should be? Would $100 be a good price, as suggested? If nothing extra was added to the pot, that would give a good return, even yet.

Thought it'd be good to get your thoughts on the matter....

That's probably true, but a maybe means there is at least a chance. If I only had yes and no to choose from, I'd normally pick no, because life is not certain about anything. I know a lot of folks who would rather say no than commit, but maybe gives them the opportunity to balance their life at the time of the event and possibly be there.

Although this is not centrally located, a good place to have it would be at the U.S. Open in Virginia. A lot of people will be there anyway to see the event, which could get a lot of people to commit to going.

However, I think Billiards Digest CCB forum has their tournament during this time.

Maybe we could have a joint AzBilliards Discussion Forum, Billiards Digest CCB, and InsidePOOL forum tournament. Holy Smoke, this thing could have a bigger player roster than the U.S. Open itself! :D

Is Jay Helfert going to be the TD pro bono? That would be a hefty undertaking.

I think we should plan a get-together with the goal of repeating it every year. It could become quite a big event, if folks know to put it on their calendar, every year.

??????????

You have people coming from all over the world to DCC an many are AZB members. Greg Sullivan is always accommodating an its nothing but pool 24/7. Pinocchio thinking outside the box I learned that from Eddie Wheat
my hero. I'm thinking of ordering a 84" cue where I never have to use a bridge never could use one of tjhose things. Peace out!!!!!!!!

An 84-inch cue? What, are you about 9-feet tall?

DCC would be a good place, very centrally located. However, there is so much going on there. I'm not sure another tournament would be a good idea, but then again, it is not my decision. I just know how chaotic it is at the DCC with activities, up all night long sweating action, no sleep, et cetera.

Whoever would take on the TD role, it would be a full-time position.

Very doable, though! :)

We've got some great TD's out here, if needed. Would be great to have Jay do it, though, being from the forum, but if he'd rather play...

I have never set up anything like this, but I bet we could get something rolling, if we got enough interest.

Jam............

I'm about 5 feet tall with my elevators on but I just want to carry a big stick an be able to reach all those balls like the tall guys. I wear a 15 an1/2 x 24 shirt its a big handicap.

I think that 3 or 4 qualifiers should be held and the top qualifiers from each tourney would be invited to the Finals.

Russ....

Awesome. Now all we need is a new thread titled "Should there be three or four qualifiers, when and where, how much, and what dates for the finals and where, also, too."

This actually could turn into about five threads, or even a new sub forum.

:p

YES, you can pro bono me in! I work for tips! A good tip is a delicious burger or a juicy corned beef sandwich.

I'm just curious - if the suggested location loses, does this mean we're going to propose a new location? We should then see if everyone wants to play in New York or LA.

LOLOLOLOL - you do realize some of the respondants don't even live in the country. Some are so far from Texas, I think you've have better luck getting them to go to Canada.

Why not just start this event with a first one that's just a fun get-together tournament and use it to help us build ideas of what we want to do in the future? Maybe we'll want to have the first one just for AZ members and then open it to the rest of the world for subsequent events..??

If it's in the Tulsa area, I'll do what I can to help with the planning, regardless of where we hold it. If it's not in the Tulsa area, but it's not too far away, I'll do whatever I can to help, still. I've gotta get some business taken care of, today, so I'll check back on the threads later.

Jay... Great idea!

I think something like that in the middle of the country would be nice, for once. I'd be there.

Are you talking about one and only one "get together" for the entire country? Is the get together to OPEN or ranked or both?

The way this poll is worded isn't going to give you the feedback you may want.

Don't Get Him Started....dammit !

I think that's George Bush's fault or at least the print media. :)

I believe I asked, "If we had an AZ Get-Together Tournament in the KS, OK, or TX area, would you go?"

The idea was to find out who would go. I didn't even ask if you would play in the tournament. Just, "would you go?" That kind of leaves it open to find out how big the crowd might be that would attend, so plans could be made according to the size of the crowd expected.

Later! I have GOT to get some work done, or my boss will have my hide!

Are you interested in finding out if people would attend but not play in the tournament? (i.e., for social reasons) Or is this poll just to find out the number of potential participants?

EDIT: Sorry, I just saw the answer to my question is right above it!
