I like the idea of having it at Johnny's room. A LOT! I guess most of you guys live back East. I used to drive that far for good action, so I guess I can still fly. :)

I drove back and forth across the country six times when I was in my 20's. Haven't done it since. The last time I was 32 in 1978. Yes, I'm that old!

Well, there you go Jay. Have it in Hotlanta. You need to get out and drive. Plus they got 6-flags.

Will be tough to take more time off for something like this. Already eat most vacation time with DCC, BCA Nationals, Reno Open & Bar Box Championships. It might be more feisable to try and do it at one of these events that a lot of us are attending anyway.

So, you're saying it would be easier for you to play in two tournaments at once?

This get together shouldn't be held in conjuction with another venue ie: SBE or DCC, etc. It wouldn't be fair to this tourn. or the venue you are competing against. Timing and location along with established parameters will determine the number of attendees.

I don't mean this as a slam against anyone but you must establish the basis and possible locations (be general) of the tourn, along with how it will be run.

Going off in different directions - ie: polls etc. leads to a total disaster. Establish how it would be operated as your number one goal. This will then tell you how many participants are interested. This then will tell you where it will be held.

If you have 100 players it could be held almost anywhere. If you 1200 players, this will limit your possible locations. Let's start out with baby steps in how the venue will be operated. This will eliminate a total cluster buster and provide a great tourn.

Since many people are lobbying to have this closer to them, as opposed to truly centrally located, I'll do the same! :D Why not have it in Arizona? This site wouldn't exist as we know it if not for this state, since the site was originally developed to cover pool in Arizona. Now that would be a true "AZBilliards" get together. :p

Or I propose that we hold it at Hawaiian Brian's on Oahu! :D

(I'm actually kidding about having it in AZ - it just struck me funny that Jay proposed something "centrally located" and, while I'm no geography major, states like Georgia, Kentucky and Virginia don't seem too central to me)

Basically I think a "central" location would be based upon population density rather than a strict definition of geographically central ( north central Kansas) in the USA.

Regional

How bout we have regional qualifiers that will pay entry and expenses. We could do several of those and then have one AZ shindig!!

You, as an AZer, could still enter on your own but you would have a chance to get some traveling $$.

We would, of course, have to escrow the funds! :D

Ray

ps - I would promote and run one or more in Texas! Come on down!

I can't think of any rooms near Dallas that have ample 9 foot tables. Maybe we could do a barbox tourney... lol! :p

Where's a good place that has 9 foot tables and stadium seating?

I think Jay's idea was to determine the interest along with the ideas from this thread and JesPiddlin's idea was to get some numbers to know what might be workable. Both of them have stated they are willing to do some work in pulling something like this off. Are you offering to help, too?

I'm in! But come on guys central to who!?

Most users are in the states and canada so somewhere central USA seems to make most sense.

Vegas is one of the greatest citys on earth and also has the biggest pool get together on earth so would make sense. Never been to calgary though so that would be awesome.

14.1 and 8 Ball please. I don't think anyone would pick the winner ;)

I'm not sure what is central for us and you guys in England. I'll stick with my Hawaiian Brian's vote though! ;)

The good thing about having it in Hawaii is ... who cares how they do in the tournament?

Hopefully this catches the steam that it has failed to do every other time it has been brought up...

I am dead ass serious about helping to host a Euro part of the tour.....
my new "home room" (been there twice not even looking for another one now ) is the f'iing nutts...23 gold crowns... plus some snooker tables...I am pretty sure we could work something out.

Ohhhh Amsterdam, last time I was there was a Christmas party and I woke up minus my wallet after spending an hour or so walking around the ring road for an hour with a few collegues, no idea!

If we was going between Asia and USA, hawaii would be great. Between Europe and US, it can only be bermuda! Like Jimmy says, who cares if you lose, might even leave the cues at home! :p

If it's hawaii would it be ok if I moved the world lag championships from Easter Island to hawaii and combined this event? (sorry for the late notice lag fans)

In all seriousness, north central USA is the only fair option, unless u go for one of the mass pool gatherings like Vegas in May.
