AZ USER NAMES ... How did you get yours and does it have history for you or meaning??

I was reading through the post here on the main forum as to rather you let people know your user name here on Az in public when out in real life ... And as to rather you let people know your real name or prefer to remain unknown or as some say hide behind your user name.... Anyway no matter what or how it goes as I was reading I got to looking at some of these user names and began to wonder how people came up with them... I know for several it was as simple as filling out the registration forum and the promp coming up and asking for your identity on this forum ..your handle so to speak and what you want to be identified as or called here on AZ ... Your infamous user name that you are labeled with and identified with by all of the AZ community ...

For some it was a spur of the moment thing ... They asked you for a user name and you had to come up with something right away ... So not much thought went into it you wanted something cool and pool related and you typed in whatever you could think of at the time hoping it would go through and you would get it ... Of course not knowing at the time that it would take you several weeks before it would go through and you would be approve to post here on AZ ...LOL....

For others I'm sure there is a story or something funny behind your user names ... Maybe you have always used them and are identified by them on other message boards ... Maybe they are nicknames that you go by in everyday life or perhaps they have become nick names you use in every day lives ... Thier are of course the Grady's , Jimmy Lee's and Doug Patricks out there that need no explanation of who they are or how they got thier names ... But what about the Smorgies or the Fatboys the Jam's or Feltmasters or names that are not a persons name or business but are unique user names that may have a good story or funny laugh behind them .. I think it would be a interesting read to see some of the posts behind some of the names of the users we see and read every day ... To see some of the history so to speak behind your user name and how it came to be a part of you ... and rather or not you like your user name or if it was just a spur of the moment thing that grew into something that became a part of you ...

So please step foward and lets hear your story on your user name and your history ... It should be a interesting thread ...

Thanks Superstar I kind of figured someone would post something along those lines the first one started back in 2006... I figured certainly AZ has grown since then... But then maybe not ... Oh well it was worth a try ... Maybe we should all just stick to the bash Kevin Varney or Eddie Wheat threads ... Or hey do you know another cue maker that maybe we can start picking on and put out of business ... ;)

RIP Buddy

My avatar is a pic of my 20 yr old cat Milo. (I think alot of you know that by now) He passed away on August 14th of this year. His old age was catching up with him. Now he is in heaven with no pain. We miss him!!!
Wanted to make Milo a AZB "STAR' before he went.:)

I'm sure there are plenty of new people who would like to participate.

I mean, i would like to, just it becomes a bit redundant after a while.
But there's no real way you could know that.

So, linking the previous info saves some of us the trouble, but i don't in any way want the thread to die.
 
I am actully a heir to the Ricearoni empire. My name is Ross, so I combined the two. Ok, not really!:smile: A friend that I went to school with starting calling me this for some reason.

My username is more part of Wifes culture than Mine. Manwon is a Korean word that means 10,000, as in 10,000 Won. Won is the word used for currency in South Korea, and 10,000 Won is the largest form of paper money used currency.

I chose this username because it was available, and kinda unique!!:)

I played Straght Pool exclusively from the early 1950's into the mid-1970's and was honored to be the 12th Naval District Champion from 1961-1965 ...

I now play 14-1 whenever my shooting partner gets tired of 9-Ball and it is still my favorite Billiards Game ...

My usual internet id is "jazzngolf72" which was shortened to "Jazz". Prior to pool, my two love in life was Jazz and golf (and in search of par round 72 - not the year I was born).

Rooster was is one of my early nick names. It was taken so I added the sw to denote southwest. The other nickname makes me blush as I am now married.:grin-devilish: OK, my wife gives me stink eye when friends use it.
 
Well thanks for the links guys ... I'm sure there is good reading in all of them I'm going to have to get started on them myself thanks again ... Milo thanks for your post you have certainly found a way for Milo to be remembered ... I'm sorry for your loss but that was a pretty good idea that seems to have worked out well...

My user name came from a High School sports board I post on .. I was one of those who when the promp for a user name came up I had no idea what to use ... So I got to thinking and our High School Football team is called the Purple Hurricanes ... I was on a poker kick at the time and I was thinking in terms of Poker and adding that to the user name ... I was thinking Jack of hearts , Full Flush , Straight Flush , 4 of a kind anything that popped into my head at the moment that I could use to put in that blank space to fill that void in a hurry ... When King of Canes popped into my head it sounded good so into the box it went ...

I did'nt know at the time the user name would be taken out of context and come to identify me in a dffierent way and take on a life of it's own... I became a loyal member of a very popular high school sports message board and info site that is to High School football in Ga. what AZ is to pool players and I posted often and I was already a football coach at the youth level and doing very good as my teams were always the team all the kids wanted to play on and we won most of the Championships and even state a time or two... Well one night I was going to watch a game in the next town over with some friends of mine who are power lifters and live in Irwin ... Keep in mind this is our nieghboring town and we have a bitter rivalry in all sports all the way from youth up through High School... And I had been on the vent laying down the smack talk all week long to these fans of Irwin ... I even went as far at to tell them when our teams played them that week at thier home field that I was going to set on thier side of the field just to hear them cry as we beat them...

Well game night and I went up into the stands with my friends on Irwins side and we were setting thier watching the game ... And right behind were these two females that were sisters one of them kept asking who I was as she did not see me at many of the games ... One of my friends told them who I was and all through the stands that night I could see Irwin fans pointing at me and I could hear them saying ..There is "The King " ... It was like I was some kind of celeb. or famous person ... Well the game came down to the fourth quarter and Irwin had the ball on our goal line ...Irwin fans were up and cheering and giving me the devil as they were one yard from scoring the winning touchdown and beating us ... They have not won a game against us in 9 years ... The ball is snapped and our nose gaurd busts through the line and the exchange between QB and Center falls to the ground ... Reggie Pasquel our nose gaurd recovers the fumble and all is quiet as can be all through the Irwin stands except for this crazy guy that was jumping up and down and yelling .."YES ..YES ..YES ...Go Reggie ... Go Canes !!! Someone has some butterfingers and can't hold onto the football!!" That crazy guy was me and when I turned around all these Irwin fans were staring at me ... Behind me up under a blanket was one of the sisters she could no longer stand to watch the game so she pulled the blanket up over her head ... I stopped long enough to comfort her... Her son played for Irwin ... The game clock wound down and a very tense moment had passed ...

Later that night I got a pm in my box from the sister who had the blanket over her head ... She PM'd me thanking me ... It was the start of a three year relationship between her and I and we still see each other off and on till this day ... Every where we go she calls me " The King" to all her friends I am "The King " it took a long time to get use to and was kind of embarrassing at first and it still is from time to time ... But that is all that they call me and the user name has stuck and is all I use when I log onto a message board ... It is kind of funny how it has stuck and became a part of my life ...But that is the way it is and the the history behind my user name ...

Newton was picked on a Apple forum since I have a "Newton". Stuck with it for other sites since it's easy, but I guess many think that it's related to "The man which had a apple falling in his head" - Isaac :grin: Which is not the case.

My first nickname from my family was also Rooster.

We don't have any Ross stores in Minnesota, so I am good with that one. I have been called Ross Perot, but that is fine with me. We look very similar and I have a little bit more money then him!
