AZB Logo Contest

I believe your advice and the examples you linked to have strengths, but as you say, you are a website developer and not a marketer. A brand, as represented by a logo is very important...and of course the theme should be consistant. I didn't see any evidence of branding on the website examples you linked to.
Actually, I was a marketing guy when I owned my own software company. ;)

But anyway, I agree that a good logo is important. It's also important that it "fit" - visually - with whatever theme we choose. Designing a logo that might look good with the default vBulletin theme may be a waste of time until the theme is installed.

Eric, I went out to vbstyles and I think I will take you up on the offer. I think some fun things could easily be done with the Tech Two style. How do we go about doing this?

Mike

Mike emailed me and I've replied. We could have a new theme up and running soon. Soon being anywhere from tomorrow to... as long as it takes to coordinate stuff. The installation is pretty painless. Changing some of the images also relatively painless (depending on the change). And then the logo... pretty short.

BTW, as Mike says, he likes the Tech Two theme. You can see that one here. A theme switcher is, in that theme, at the very bottom. Work I'd do would involve doing things like changing some of the images (like the blue and orange balls above "Announcements" - perhaps into pool balls or something), changing some of the colors of some of the items (perhaps to green, etc.).

I was using a very hacked Tech Two theme on The Sand Trap .com forums for a few months back when vBulletin was at 3.0.x. I switched to what I have now ("Aria Sand") when 3.5.0 came out.

I have no artistic or computer artistic talent but any of you artistic types want to take this idea be my guest.
1) Jeffs pool table boarder and water background minus the two sharks.
2) On left 1/3 Block letters AZB on top and Aunty Dans flowing forums "fitted underneath the azb.
3) color in the letters with Gages golden lettering color.
4) set of angled brunswicks or a table sized to fit center 1/3 of image.
5) Gages shark moving in on balls/table from far right with words "where the sharks play underneath also in Gages gold coloring.

Just a thought - Given all these graphics can be interchanged (Parts of skins etc.) as long as they are the correct size there is no reason you could not have a couple of different logos and rotate them.

If the sever software allows it you could even allow users to select their favorite one as part of their User profile.

Well, I am totally impressed with the talent on this forum. WOW! :)

I like Aunty Dan's logo a lot. It is colorful and eye-catching.

Keep 'em coming! I'm looking forward to the final product! :p

I like it Dea (and the new avatar;) ),
Maybe coloring in the letters except for the cue would mke the cue stand out more?

Terry< thinks Dea should smile more:D ;)

I don't want to change it...b/c I like how it looks horrible now. What an art.

Dea<--thinks a paper bag would be a better choice than more smiling.

Nice Deanna! I love the subtle shark in the background, you have to look at it for a minute to see that.

i think a design that is versatile enough to be used in many ways besides just a website logo would be a good way to go.

to that end, i think a few of rackmsuckr's ideas have the most potential.

I think Deanna has the best one. That is, unless yall want me to write AZ Billiards on my gut with a Sharpie...

I have a pretty nice "six pack" but it's in a big cooler. :D
